My brother came across the video and posted it on my facebook wall yesterday and I wanted to share it with you guys. It's RP in 1988 answering a question on the drug war. His answer is amazing and I hope he'll be as eloquent in the debates for 2012! The hilarious part is the last comment he makes, which was a bit mean but was an amazing burn on the guy arguing for the war on drugs.

Enjoy!

I still think Ron is sharp, but if he were in his early 50s now... game over. Debates would have to be called after the second round of questioning via the mercy rule.

I know, it's so sad people took this long to realize how amazing he is. If he was still 50, as you said, it'd be game over for any other candidate. Just see how articulate and eloquently he speaks in that video. Aging sucks :(

Oh my god that was amazing. It's so true though. While it wasn't in good taste, it definitely makes sense. If government can force or take away a habit of drugs , how is that any different than controlling everything you eat? No more cupcakes for tubby!

Wow, he did no stuttering like he does now. He would be a lot more successful today if he were that young again.

I saw this in 88 when it first aired. Did you see the whole show? Morton was going to snuff his cigarette out in Ron's eye. It really wasn't Ron's finest hour, just an opportunity for the rabid drug warriors to excoriate and humiliate somebody. I talked to one of Ron's campaign managers about 12 years ago about Ron's presidential campaign and he urged Ron not to go on the show.
Makes for great TV today, though.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks so much like Rand in the video?

The entire episode was a bit hard to watch. I never did see the entire thing.

People laugh at this because it's funny, but his rebuttal should be taken very seriously because it's true.

Hard to imagine the scholarly Ron of today telling someone "You look like you could lose some weight!" LOL

Ron Paul did a great job of talking sense to that gaggle of morons and simpletons. Funniest part from that whole show is when they play a clip from that criminal scumbag Rangel to promote drug prohibition. What an ass that guy is.
