Hmm. Congress and the FDA should tell producers what to do. Does this mean that perhaps sometimes people do want regulations on things and not just let companies do what they want and "let the free market decide"?

How about letting those producers who have non genetically engineered food, put that on their labels? This way there wouldn't be a government mandate for anything, but rather letting the market decide if they like one product over another.

Not necessarily. As 3D pointed out...these GMO producers have lobbied Congress and used the force of gov't in order to NOT allow non-gmo foods to label their foods as such. So, in reality, the opposite of what you say is true.

They want to be able to do what they want to- isn't that considered free market? Products which do not contain any GMO can (and already do on some things I have seen) indicate that on their labels. Same for RBST in dairy products.
