Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney raised almost $1.9 million during the first three months of the year as he laid the groundwork for an expected presidential run.

Aides to the Republican's political action committee said Thursday that the Free and Strong America organization also gave away more than $400,000 to Republican candidates and conservative organizations.

Average contribution to Ron Paul's PACs in the first quarter was under $70. I wonder what the average contribution was to Romney's PAC?

We can raise 3 times that in a single day; in fact we have.

Plus, Ron has nearly 2 million on hand from his Congressional coffer.

I think that Mutt reporting this makes it somewhat official that Flipper is running . . . again (sigh)!

Also, it has me thinking that everyone has waited to this the end of the first quarter and that in April we'll start to see the FEC filings for the GOP hopefuls. This second quarter has to be when they start putting their cards on the table, doesn't it ?

Yeah but the reports will be: Mitt Romney's PAC raised 1.9 million and Ron Paul's PAC raised one million.

Basically, the GOP nomination will come down to Ron/Rand, Newt, and Romney.

And maybe Bachmann, Pawlenty, Palin, and Huck. Barbour is making a run for it too. Look for some token conservative to take away from the Paul crowd. This was Fred's purpose last time; to draw conservative votes away from Huck... McCain won as a result.

That's still pretty good press for RP.

What about Trump?

What about Trump?I don't think he'll play outside of NY, he has too many negatives that can be used against him.
