(Reuters) - A former New Orleans police officer was sentenced on Thursday to more than 25 years in prison for the shooting death of a man just after Hurricane Katrina hit the city, the Justice Department said.

It said another former officer received a sentence of more than 17 years in prison for burning the man's body.

New Orleans resident Henry Glover was shot and killed on September 2, 2005, and his body was burned in a car to cover up the incident.

David Warren, a former officer who has since left the police department, received a prison term of 25 years and nine months after being found guilty of a civil rights violation for shooting Glover and using a firearm to commit manslaughter.

Another former officer, Gregory McRae, was sentenced to 17 years and three months in prison for civil rights violations and for obstructing justice by burning the body.

Good, but it would seem that it takes a Frontline expose' for any citizen to get justice involving the NOPD.
