What happened!? The month's donations have gone up about $400K in the past few hours, to over $2.2 million! Great!

Well that answers the questions about it being both online and offline donations. I'm hoping the $2k a plate Hollywood dinner pays off well too.

I'm now really nervous about this whole thing . . . it is like hearing the lottery numbers announced, thinking that your ticket is the winner, and then realizing that you are off by one.

Why, oh why, do you do this to us HQ? At least post a news release telling us that it is true.

I believe you are correct. The "Broadcast for Freedom" and "Raising to Win" widgets seemed to go up at exactly the same rate everytime I was watching them this weekend.

Must have been offline donations. This is a great bonus -- it's now very likely that we'll make $3 million by the end of the month. Awesome!

Ronpaulgraphs.com updates via the same web service that the campaign site uses to tally the online donations. However, if the campaign input the total offline donations via some other method, such as manually adding the total to the database, ronpaulgraphs wouldn't register it. Just guessing.

Now add the NOV the 5th and BAMM!!

This will be a 10 mil day, I feel it! This message is spreading and I believe that many people not registered will be donating that day even if not $100 because many will give more than $100 !

jgmaynard
10-24-2007, 11:34 PM
I would LOVE to see it net $10M in one day.

I'm predicting about $2.5M though that day, but that will be more than enough to get the mainstream media to report it big time, and give Ron GREAT fodder for the debates...

Just the thought of raising, in one day, 1/4 of the entire amount raised by Rudy Romney in 3 months is just too.... sweet... for... words.

My guess is that the campaign is prepping for the fund raising push for the last week of October. They input the offline donations tonight, tomorrow morning they'll send out a new fund raising email, and we'll be extra motivated to reach for the 4 million goal now that we are that much closer.

They are among some of the wealthiest people in America - those Arab American Oil Barons - and I am quite sure that his anti-war policy is popular among them. Politics do make for strange bedfellows - don't it?!?!

If Faux News wants to make something of it, we can discuss American Oil Company ties to the Middle East and see whose pockets are being lined by what money, eh?

I don't think this is the case. If it were, the statue of liberty applet would have stopped while the radio ad fund raiser was running. However, the old app kept chugging along and updating even as people donated for the 430 fund-raiser.

RonPaulGraphs.com has the scoop:

About the MASSIVE Spike In Donations (http://ronpaulgraphs.blogspot.com/)

I was contacted by the campaign and told this was going to happen. They have added in all the "off-line" donations ($432,000) into the online counter. Awesome! This is yet another ground breaking event.. This campaign is 90% of the way to complete, real-time campaign finance transparency. Other than the obvious spikes in all the graphs, everything around here should continue as usual... all the calculations will do their thing... Obviously, these are donations that were collected over time and not all on a single day like the spike seems to indicate.. there is not much that can be done about this.. I am not going to attempt to uniformly fold these numbers back into the historic data or anything... unless the campaign wants to supply me with more accurate historic data, of course ;)

Since the donor names, cities and states for these donations were not run through the data feed I use (except for the increased total), I have not captured ANY of that data. Which undoubtedly causes the effective sample size of that data to decrease further to some roughly 60%, I still declare it sufficiently random for trend analysis.

Before I get inundated with emails, let me assure you that I have no inside track to the campaign or Ron Paul himself. The campaign wanted to warn me about the impending spike in the total donations and to let me know they appreciate my work and find it fascinating. I was absolutely thrilled to be contacted and I'm overjoyed that they find it interesting enough to call me up! My status has not changed, I am not consulting, advising, or working for the campaign in any manner.

I have also added a line for NEW donors on the Per Capita Donors by state graphs... If the name already appears in the list of names for the quarter, it is not counted again. The existing per capita line on these graphs includes every name once per day.

As usual, I do not have the complete donor list from the quarter or any previous quarter.. so both lines remain approximations best used for trend analysis.

The total number of donors has also been turned back on, so I am enabling all those graphs... they will look funny for a week or two until everything gets back to normal.

Yeah, I was getting a little discouraged too. Maybe next month they can do this on a weekly basis instead of monthly, so that the charts are more accurate. None the less the week looked like it would be on par with last week, which was a RECORD week.
