So I'm signed up on one of those free dating sites, and someone (attractive, I must say) messages me after they noticed that I fancy myself a Libertarian, and asked me "What does Libertarian mean to you? Sell me on it."

I noticed that she considers herself a Libertarian-Socialist (wtf?) so its possible that she's a recovering Socialist, slowly waking to the philosophy of Liberty. She's also a staunch atheist. She also saw Zeigeist and obviously likes it. Considering all of that, this was my response:

Yeah I have seen all the Zeitgeist films. I know about Peter Joseph and the Venus Project. I'm not an expert on anything, so I try to learn as much about both sides of the argument as possible. I know there are some inaccuracies in the Zeitgeist movies which hurt its legitimacy a little bit, but I completely support the overall purpose of the film (more so the first one... the sequels seem a little contrived to me).

The older I get the more I realize how the entire system, not just here but the entire worlds system is not how it is portrayed to be. Our representatives have no power. Their jobs are to act like representatives and provide sheeple with a false sense of choice. Good, docile cattle. That is what we have become.

The people who are really in control are the cartels, dynasties, and royalties of the world. The same people who have always been in control. Religion, in all its variety, is just another form a poison designed to conquer and divide. It has worked since the beginning of time.

A free society is only free for a moment. Once it is born it begins to die, because free people do not feel free if they are forced to constantly defend themselves against subversive ideologies. Free people want to feel happiness, and security. Sadly, there hasn't been a system on earth that allows free people to feel happy and secure. As Ben Franklin once said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

As a Libertarian I was to be free to think and do what I want (as long as I do not interfere with the liberty of others), without anyone else interfering with mine. While most of us in society still think we are free, a few of us are feeling squeezed. Hence my account name. I'm aware of my eroding liberties. And yours. Ultimately, I want to live in a society that respects the philosophy of liberty for everyone. This video sums up my take on the philosophy of liberty very well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muHg86Mys7I

Politically its impossible to find a candidate who follows the philosophy of liberty completely, or has any power to establish it. But Ron Paul and his son seem to come the closest. If for no other reason, regardless what happens to The United States of America, I want the idea of liberty to spread like wildfire. I want there to be some place in the world that another man or group of people can not tell me how to live my damn life.

I like what you had to say. Don't get me wrong, i don't swing that way. lol :)

Thats all any of us can do. Spread the message in are day to day lives. Use what ever talent or opportunity we have to best sale this philosophy. some of us will be bettor the others in different mediums. Just do what ever it is you do and be yourself. Thats how our idea is immortal. Thats why we cant be stopped. Normally i don't think i would post this but sometimes i get going with these abstract f-ed up ideas and sometimes i post them
