“We are excited to bring to campus one of the Liberty Movement’s foremost intellectuals to discuss a topic I think many college students will be interested in,” said Lindsey Ferguson, president of Young Americans for Liberty at IU. “Hopefully he will challenge the viewpoint many people have of the free market in regards to the environment and spark an important debate here on campus.”
Following Block’s lecture there will be a Q & A period.
Walter Block is the Harold E. Wirth Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Economics at Loyola University. He is also an Adjunct Scholar at the Mises Institute and the Hoover Institute. He has previously taught at the University of Central Arkansas, Holy Cross College, Baruch (C.U.N.Y.) and Rutgers Universities. He earned a B.A. in philosophy from Brooklyn College (C.U.N.Y.) in 1964 and a Ph.D. degree in economics from Columbia University in 1972. He is also the author of more than 500 articles and in addition has published many books, including Defending the Undefendable, which has been translated into ten languages.
