Patriots,

I propose that the grassroots hold a branding competition for the campaign that is likely about to commence. Already I have seen some amazing efforts.

Oh, with a grassroots effort by this herd of cats in the works, I think I can guarantee it. The free market will sort it all out in the end.

The idea is to encourage the official campaign to adopt the best one.

Little premature at the moment. Last time, the official campaign was kind of the minority report...

Ron will be announcing within a couple months. How is this premature? What do you mean by "official campaign was kind of the minority report..."?

Well, a couple of months is a couple of months, and we don't know for certain certain if it'll be Ron or Rand. Who, knows, maybe they'll do some kind of contest like you suggest. Last time you could say they did; seems like they contacted some talented people who had stuck their stuff out there. But in the end, most people contributed their own creativity, rather than contributing directly to the official campaign. People created videos, rode bikes, supported blimps. Herd of cats. Worked, though. We broke through the He Who Must Not Be Named wall before us.

We threw so much stuff out there hardly anyone could ignore all of it.

Obviously Rand is not running for President in 2012. Last time the campaign branding was very generic, compare it to Obama's which was brilliant. I don't care what the grassroots uses, this competition is to influence the official campaign to adopt an excellent brand.

Would be great to see what kind of ideas the grassroots produces

Seems to have an inside track, too. Carol Paul is said to have seen it and liked it.

So, get your nominees in so the OP can set up a poll.

Yeah I sent it to Ron and Carol and they saw it and liked it and said something about they might maybe needing more of this guy's work in the future.

Original Poster: Please post all submissions on the original post so we can get a good collection of them... Or maybe a mod can merge this with my thread on this topic a few weeks ago and I will do so. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?281801-Urgent-quot-DESIGN-Ron-s-Campaign-Sign-quot-Contest

I love these. they are exactly what the official campaign needs and should adopt. i agree it is important they have a modern, attractive, official brand like obama had and i think these are that brand. also it would be very hard to campaign on a black and red color scheme (referring to the current ron paul revolution posters), it would not be helpful in appealing to the average voter. these blue, well designed brands are however. i personally would drop the teal and just focus on that beautiful, friendly blue ( much better to the dark navy of mccains)

i nominate justin page wood and his ronpauldesigns.com to be ron paul's 2012 official campaign brand/logo/graphic designer. i think we should contact ron paul through jesse benton or whoever is in charge once he officially launches his campaign (in the next several weeks) to express the grassroots desire for them to adopt ronpauldesigns.com as their official brand

The best logo so far is right here, by Skylar Hartman. Benton is aware of it and they like it. The slogan needs to be updated though.

Here's my critique. The kerning is horrible. Since when is RONPAUL all one word? And the A thing, it doesn't link to "America".. it looks like book pages. And please not that slogan, or any slogan. Why does there have to be a slogan? Let his name stand on his own merit. We don't need to relegate this whole movement to some vague 'slogan'.

good critique. i agree a slogan is completely unnecessary for ron paul. except maybe in commercials. do you like the designs by justin page wood which i endorsed above^ any more than these ones?

I do, but I think the campaign either needs a solid, radical branding message, or just stick with the old brand that RP has used since almost day one. I see both sides of the issue, but I think strong branding is crucial in a campaign, to create a feeling of familiarity with new supporters.

I also agree with the above posters in that the Eagle design is fantastic, iconic, and unique. A surefire way to stand out amongst the safe and traditional logos likely to be adopted by the other candidates. Genius.

Also, please, no slogan.

i feel the same way. branding is absolutely crucial and i know a lot of the supporters really dont want to hear it but youre absolutely right. familiarity and legitimacy come from a unified branding and it is integral to any presidential campaign. obama proved this more than anyone else before. it doesnt mean ron paul supporters cant make their own signs or continue to do the amazing things they do, but a strong iconic yard sign that people begin to see all over the place makes a bigger difference than a lot of people realize when it comes to name recognition and respect in the sense of being viable.

I am with sailingaway's quote: "Consistency is a beautiful, and uncommon, trait."

Hey, we went through a whole bunch of new ideas, images, and slogans for 2012. Guess what? Everybody kept saying they wanted the same thing as last time. We have created a brand whether it is the blue/red simple Ron Paul image or the rEVOLution image. We have spent years getting people to recognize those images, why rebrand?

Let's face it: All of the images and slogans only help you if you win the Primary. Notice how the other candidates don't even really bother with this until then. That is because in a Primary people vote for a whole different set of reasons than in a general election.

I think getting precinct lists out to people and have them talk with 100-200 people in their neighborhood is more important.

very good points, but i still think an updated branding with more attention to design and a professional feel couldnt hurt.
