• Drew Alexander, 69, restaurant franchisor
• Jim Brokenbek, 68, retired campus minister
• Steve Dawson, 42, employment service business developer
• F.E. (SandraDunn) Dunaway, 53, full-time graduate student
• David H. Grisham Jr., 50, Pantex security officer and fundamentalist pastor
• Paul Harpole, 60, car dealer and former Amarillo City Commissioner
• William Jean, 38, electronics technician
• Rodney W. Johnson, 25, foot orthotics company owner
• Roy D. McDowell, 69, truck sales and parts companies owner
• Grady (Cory) Traves, 36, a food-service equipment technician
• Ryan Vigil, 21, part-time 911 dispatcher

These are the declared candidates for Mayor for my home of record, Amarillo, Texas. I can not find much info about most of these candidates. I don't even think any of them have campaign websites (AFAIK).
As far as what I could find, I crossed out those candidates I know I won't support.

I know that no one is as good at the interwebz as those of us on this forum...hoping you guys could help me figure out who the best pro-liberty candidates are... :D

Thanks in advance!

Alright, guess I may just vote for a statist...

Run, Tony, run!

Then vote for yourself.

Problem solved.

I don't live there anymore, but I still vote there. Also, with my current job I am prohibited from running for office.

Well - I found a Youtube of Rodney Johnson on "jobs" for you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ55bgdvC9Q&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

You can listen/decide for yourself - but he said he wants to create jobs by hiring 76 new police officers and will fight for more teachers and more spending in education. He sounded kinda like a Young Turk

William Jean:

Jean is focusing his run on his opinion that police "are only supposed to protect and serve and not just be out and about handing out tickets to generate revenue for the city."

Jean, an electronics technician, claims Amarillo Police are peace officers charged with protecting public safety, not law enforcement officers with the power to enforce moving traffic violations.

Speed limits, Jean contends, are enforceable only for drivers driving for commerce and not for people "using private property, going from one place to another."

"People (drivers) are supposed to have a self-awareness of the people around them," he said. "If they haven't breached the peace or committed a felony or committed harm to others, then there's really not a problem with the way they're traveling."

Plus another website says he's a libertarian. No other specifics tho.

I think you found the winner. Kinda weaselly that he kept "felonies" in the list, as a felony does not imply that the driver is doing actual harm, but as a whole he's probably the best you'll be offered.

Served during the Viet Nam conflict as Commanding Officer of 47th Surgical Hospital at Fort Lewis, Washington. (Just like the one on TV - M.A.S.H.)

I'd vote for that guy. I mean, he'll be just like the surgeons from M*A*S*H -- it'll be a total crack up!

Seriously, I like that William Jean guy. Anyone who talks about not enforcing petty speed limits is good in my books. I'm slightly saddened to see people chastising him on that newspaper site, though.

Oh, some info from a previous election with Jim Brokenbek.

And I don't have an issue with police enforcing the speed limit on public roads...as long as its not cameras!

Oh, some of the candidates showed up to a NAACP sponsored forum:
