View Full Version : Why is Ron Paul sometimes painted as someone who "always" runs for president...?

Are people confusing him with Ralph Nader or something???

Last time I checked, Ron has only run twice in two races that were 20 years apart...

Why does possibly running a third time put him in some sort of light as "always" running for president, like he's just trolling?

Yeah, that bugs me too. Once in the last 20 years isn't exactly 'perennial' as they like to pretend.

harold stassen was the classic continual candidate
in that he ran in every election he could after 1948.
if rep. ron paul runs this time, it will be his third try.
i think harold stassen ran at least ten times in a row!

I've seen this misconception at least once before as well. I don't know if it's because he's well known, but keeps losing badly or what.

'Perennial candidate' has long been an MSM code phrase for 'kook'.

its an attempt to discredit.. "Oh there goes that crazy ron paul always running again.. its like pat paulsen,.. the comic who used to run"

that way it can be connected that he isnt serious.

Ya, whenever I hear Ron's name being used in this way it's always by someone trying to discredit him. It pisses me off.
