AND did I mention I got to see RON PAUL??!!?? ;-) I didn't wind up shaking his hand - it was a terribly long line, and I felt like he was being harassed with zillions of people clobbering him, so I just snapped a pic and headed out (plus I had to make sure I got my zipcar returned on time!). I had a really nice time - a great drive up there and back, with lots of rocking out. I got rejected by everyone I invited to come with me, but I didn't mind being alone at all. And I really like New Hampshire. UNH is in Durham, NC, which is a teeny tiny town, and the kids there are all dirty, bearded hippies! LOVES IT. :-) 100% different vibe than HLS.
I may or may not have felt a few tears roll down my cheeks when Dr. Paul walked out on stage. What a tremendous man. If you don't know anything about him, google him. Or try this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA
Or read his book (The Revolution: A Manifesto). He is really something. I sincerely hope he runs in 2012. I think he will. Although it struck me how old he is getting. I would hate for anything bad to happen to his health, and the campaign (not to mention the presidency itself) takes quite a toll. At any rate, it was an honor to be in the same room as him, only feet away, and to hear him speak. I could have reached out and touched him. I really admire him. I don't know how anyone could do otherwise.
