I heard the interview, it was the one with Mandy in a different thread. After he said he wouldn't run if his dad did she said but what if he didn't, would you run then? and he hesitated and said if Ron didn't run there would then be options on the table and he would explore those options.

I think Ron doesn't know anything about it, though, from his laugh when Cavuto raised it the other day, (near the end of the interview), Ron clearly thought it was really funny in an 'I appreciate the creativity of his response' sort of way. So they need to touch base when they get back to DC. I think the whole thing came up as happenstance response to a reporter question and now is getting a life of its own.

Rand's speech to the rotary club was very smooth today, by the way.

Well, Rand's name sure is in the news today...

It seems to me that they won't have a talk trying to figure out what to do. Ron will just decide on his own and Rand will support the decision.

Yeah, but I think Rand doesn't mind it at all.

Nah.

And you know what? After years of damned-if-we-do-and-damned-if-we-don't type decisions, this either way's a win deal here is pretty damned nice.

He seems to be good at that, doesn't he? :p

This is a great political move for Rand to endorse his dad, but I would honestly be surprised if I heard anything from a reliable source near as wild as these stories are when Congress is out of session. I'd be even more surprised if I didn't get a phone call before he ran.

Rand should run and win. He strikes the perfect balance between principle and pragmatism, and the country is ready for his message. Ron's forte is running educational campaigns, and he has done an excellent job of spreading a philosophically consistent message of liberty. But that is no longer enough; America desperately needs a president who truly believes in the power of freedom in the White House in 2013, and I honestly think Rand has what it takes to get there.

TRUE!!! I AM PSYCHED EITHER WAY!
BARACK OBAMA ONLY SPENT 2 YEARS
IN THE SENATE! SARAH PALIN WAS A
GOVERNOR FOR A YEAR and A HALF!

A quick heads up:

Rand will have 2 years experience as of presidential inauguration; Obama had 4 (Jan 2005 - Jan 2009).

Ron is running, mark my words.

Rand is not, he knows this, he's just playing with the media. Creative indeed.

That's pretty much what my sources are telling me.

As a less connected and less informed observer, I will guess that they are going the other way.

You very well could be right. I think there are only 3 or 4 people who know, and 2 of them have a last name of "Paul". And the honest truth is that they themselves may not have even made up their minds.
