And that, right there, is why I never joined Facebook in the first place. In fact, I got so tired of seeing their plugins everywhere, I added "*.facebook.com/*" to my Adblocking list. It seems to be working quite well - I see from the tracking list it's blocked nearly 200,000 ads and pages from that domain since I added it!

This feature is optional. It's not like you are compelled into giving over your address and phone number to Facebook, or to share it with these applications. The objection is over the fact that the warning and option are apparently insufficient for privacy protection. If you are unwilling to read before clicking a pop-up, it's not Facebook's fault you're too stupid to figure who you want to share your info with.

The exposed HBGary e-mails would later reveal that Barr's own employees thought he was overreaching and that they feared retribution from the vengeful Anonymous. But Barr plunged ahead. He proposed a talk at the RSA conference in San Francisco titled "Who Needs NSA when we have Social Media?" Then he promoted the talk by suggesting he would expose the identities of the primary members of the group.

This feature is optional.

Just because they didn't announce, it does not mean they are already not data mining and or selling/sharing/storing all the un-optional data on users.

Just because they didn't announce, it does not mean they are already not data mining and or selling/sharing/storing all the un-optional data on users.

Oh, now we're going to accuse them of things without proof? Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty" thing? Oh, I'm sorry, that only applies to causes we like.

Using this logic: Just because Ron Paul Forums didn't announce they were data mining doesn't mean they aren't or that they aren't selling information on users.

Seriously, if you're freaked out about people finding out about your information, don't connect to any network whatsoever. I mean, if you're connected it's possible someone will hack in and data mine. Even if you weren't connected, it's not like identity theft and harassment or people finding out where you live didn't happen before the advent of Facebook or even the computer.

Skepticism does not equate accusation. Although there is enough historic evidence to suggest that googles, facebooks of the world are grossly abusing consumer privacy rights. Profit here is a powerful motive.

This coud give Obama people unprecedented access to user data to spread liberties and wage domestic war on radicals:

With Robert Gibbs, Facebook would add to impressive roster of D.C. insiders

Facebook has already quadrupled its Washington team since 2009 and hired a top lobbying firm. Former Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs would give Facebook another man with connections.

Oh, now we're going to accuse them of things without proof? Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty" thing?

It doesn't apply to corporations, and never did.

If FB doesn't answer the way they should, boycott it. Don't wait for proof that is unlikely to arrive.

It better be satirical, the claim in video clip about facebook founder working with CIA is too incredible to be credible.
