38.96 last I checked. Will it fall to 16 or even further?

Given the fact that huge amounts of silver have been consumed over the last decades, the physical relation of all available gold vs. all available silver should have grown
(total gold / total silver = growing number). Therefore the historical price ratio of 1/16 could be even to high?
I think all depends on whether markets consider silver a currency or just an ordinary commodity. Right now it looks like silver gained its currency-status back...

Less than a month from the posting of the OP and the ratio has fallen below 35. Currently 34.8.

22-26: 1 by the end of the year. WITH GOLD GOING UP A SUBSTANCIAL AMOUNT. ;)

Silver has been consumed - but even the consumed portion (photography, electronics, dentistry, jewelry, whatever) is still out there, discarded - yes, but still out there somewhere.

And at some price per ounce it might be suddenly cost effective to re-mine it (sotospeak) in landfills, or whereever.
