Just saw this... (someone else was paying)

Here is what I got out of it...

MILITARY = GOOD

CIVILIANS = WEAK

It's amusing to me that the having the military fight aliens is really the only way you can portray the military in a good light these days.

Overall it was just a major military worship-fest with some ironically cheesy youth indoctrination actually portrayed in one scene that went on for an extremely awkward amount of time...

Skip it & read a book, your time is better spent in almost any other way.

Yea, it was terrible. I feel stupid for going to see it. I guess I knew it would be bad, but I thought it'd be "fun bad." This movie was annoying and boring as hell.

Have you ever sat and watched a friend play a game like Modern Warfare or Gears of War and got bored because you wanted to play? That's what sitting through this movie is like. Watching a video game that you don't get to play.

The acting was terrible, the message was cliche, the aliens were stupid, you get the idea.

Agreed. Completely.

It seemed like one giant advertisement for the military than anything.

Was this movie funded by the US Government?

Lol! I kid... I kid...

Are you people kidding. The movie was great. Non-stop action packed alien invasion movie.. Seriously...it is Hollywood. Stop trying to read into hidden messages and try to enjoy the movie.

Sincerely,

Slutter McGee

Haven't seen it yet, and probably won't bother. It just looks like another typical crappy action movie with crappy cliche writing and nice special effects. I'd rather watch District 9 a 4th time than watch this one once.

Rango was a good movie. Went to see it with the kids.

Good show portrays the power elite (mayor) controlling the currency of exchange and freezing credit and buying up all the land at the expense of the people and with the help of the criminal gangs. Rango is an ugly looking outsider who exposes the lies, and topples the power elite.

2 hour propaganda commercial for the Marines.

Aside from that, the plot was stupid and there was no dialog. Awful movie.

Sounds pretty awesome from what you guys have said. Lots of action, blowing aliens up, easy to follow plot. Sounds like the type of movie i would like.

It wasn't even a good action flick, IMO.

Action was so-so... Destruction-porn was limited... Acting was 'meh'... Plotline was so cliche it was ridiculous... No twists... Predictable...

And the military rah-rah-rah booshit throughout the movie just added to it's lameness, for me personally.

Overall? My critique? Even for an action flick, it was a sub par action flick. Effects were solid though.

You'd think so, and that's what I thought it would be. I love movies like Independence Day. But this one was just boring.

Yeah, I can stomach blatant propaganda if the movie is at least a little entertaining.

Wow! That's a real eye-opener. I had no idea Hollywood and the military had such a close relationship.
