I've checked like 3 different sites reporting this story, which is being touted as the next Abu Ghraib, and even went to Der Spiegel's site but can't find these damn photos anywhere.

The stories make it sound as though these pictures should be widely available, yet in the US at least, it seems almost impossible to get them.

I've spent a fair few minutes looking for them, and all I have to show for it is "Why some idiots take pictures & ruin it for the rest of the braves out there." from a social news site.

... Anyone know if "The Blaze" is a satirical site or not? Serious question.

Some comments for example:

"These brave men are doing what the government trained and paid them to do. For once I see government money that was wisely spent. Keep up the good work men! I thank you for being there for us."

"if i were these soldiers commander i would have instructed them to do alot worse. This is a Satan were dealing with"

"Once I had a client who proudly showed me a picture that was taken in WWII where he and his fellow soldiers were proudly standing on the top of a pile of dead Japanese soldiers! In fact, the ol’ gentleman insisted that I keep the photo…He was proud of his service and PROUD that we had won! Only HE knew the price that was paid, not me…Tears ran down his face as he described the HELL that they lived through…I DID NOT find it disturbing or demeaning…That‘s why it’s called WAR! I THANKED him for his service to our Country!"

It would appear the general consensus is that because war is Hell, morality does not apply. Neither the war nor the soldiers should be criticized for doing what they were trained for. If anyone DOES try to judge these soldiers, they're out of line because until you convince yourself you're fighting evil and fighting to survive every day, you cannot understand the mindset these soldiers are in.

This post in particular was very unsettling:

"everyone should shut the hell up and the Army should get these men out of theater and into evaluation and rehab if required. But will and does, and has theis happended before – all sides, all wars. It happens because we are human – placed in a hellish situation that is constant danger, constant tension, constant “flight or fight” response that does not get abbaited. It‘s why there should be no cameras’ allowed. Pic’s like this can haunt the individuals and their families that will never understand how their “sweet, fun loving child” could do such things. There was a reason most of the veterans from WWII and Korea never spoke of their experiences – they understood how others would see/shun them if they knew of what they had to do in war was known. So everyone should pray for their mental recovery and otherwise keep their yaps shut!"

These aren't nearly as devastating as Abu Ghraib. Simply looking at the 3rd picture, I said to myself: "Well the bodies have to be put somewhere, what's wrong with there?" (I'm ignoring of course that these are dead civilians killed by America's military). The first 2 are much worse - those soldiers are indeed treating a dead civilian body like a hunted animal carcass trophy. But unfortunately these don't pack the punch of the Abu Ghraib photos, and I predict this story will be dead within 2 days.

"It's not their fault they were just following orders". We need to worship their sacrifices - of other human beings.

We should not be apologetic when the fruits of training men to 'deer hunt' other men bears it's crop. "Basic training" is actually the new socialist man's conversion from himself to the collective.

Proof that people don't even see the Afghans as human beings, just caricatures that are lower than animals. Can you imagine if someone from the Taliban was posing with a dead mother of two? But he was just following orders!

Disgusting. Having to share a country with assholes of this caliber is a tough existence.

Imagine the outcry if a Palestinian posed over the body of an Israeli.

and these sick minds will return as war veterans and live among civilians. I wonder how many of the Vietnam and Korean war veterans are also sickos but got away coz there were no easy point and shoot cams back then. how many want to bet that NATO forces will soon be on the ground in lybia. its only getting started!

I feel sick to my stomach when i see these images and I'm not even an Afghan. Is it any wonder that they are easily motivated to blow themselves up. No doubt the Muslim moderates consider Osama as a hero standing up to the big bullies. all done in the name of patriotism and safety. I mean... I can imagine Taliban doing these atrocities but an army of a civilized country? when all is said and done and the empire collapses, these sick minds and people who shield them will tarnish the image of America - the land of the free and home of the brave.

Yeah, war is hell and maybe we should pity rather than excoriate these kids. But that doesn't mean that the American public doesn't need reminders that war is hell, and we jump off into it way, way too easily. We obviously do, or we wouldn't be responding right now with 'oh, it's just a no-fly zone, that's all' as if civilians are universally safe from our radar installation (and other target) strikes.

Just saw this on an Irish site. This has been going on for ages. I've news articles printed off at home about troops killing Afghans and kicking their heads around as soccer balls.

Oh no, but you must never criticize the military of any country. They're just good honorable men. Give me a break, half of all armies are full of lunatics who want to go to war and "kill".

Why is this not on the news!?! It's only on Drudge. When did this get out? Am I making too big a deal of this?

Maybe I thought that our troops posing with dead corpses that they killed was a bigger deal than it really is...

So I guess these pics are no big deal? No one seems to be picking up the story.

Oh...and this is why we need more Wikileaks in the world.

This is top of Drudge in bright red, so this is gonna hit the media hard... he just linked to the pictures.

My take: not as bad as Abu Gharib, but still repugnant and will piss a lot of people off

And that's the kicker. If there's any big story to these photos, it's not, 'The soldiers responsible for this must be brought to justice', it's 'We can't allow these to be spread around because it will 'ENDANGER THE TROOPS!'.'

At least they are on trial for murder and will in all likelihood be executed. If they were cops and the victims were American civilians, they'd probably just get a paid vacation and a slap on the wrist.

qft! It should not be surprising to see soldiers doing such things, because this is what the MIC trains them to be-soulless murderers who have to have their conscience reconfigured by therapists for years after their work is done in order to readjust to society. :(

I am not surprised by this "revelation." The recruiting techniques of the military specifically seek out the lowest of the low in our young culture, to attract the violent and the anger filled, to attract those who will fight, not think.

A lot of those people they killed and took pictures with were probably people actually firing at them. But I would wager a lot were innocent civilians and the troops were "blowing off steam" by blowing them away.

Just wait until they come home and "blow off steam" here with us. If I remember correctly, lots of soldiers in the military are trained to not feel anything, even if they have to fire on American citizens. Not sure where I saw that at.

The gaping maw of the Military-Industrial complex chews up a lot of our good, young people and turns them into the violent monsters you see posing by and taking pleasure from dead bodies. I don't want to make a blanket statement about all troops, because that would be stupid to do, and it's not their fault (not entirely) that they are thrown into such hellish situations. But they do volunteer, and a lot of them volunteered with the specific knowledge of where they would be going and what they would be doing.

This is just another warning flare that we are on the road to collapse.
