Men accused of assaulting man who tried to snap a mohawk photo

Two men were arrested this week, accused of using a skateboard to assault a man and stealing his sunglasses after he tried to take a photo of one of the men’s triple mohawk hairstyle, according to an arrest affidavit.
The man who was assaulted said he had been taking photos of “anything that was remotely interesting or unusual,” according to the affidavit. When he photographed 23-year-old Johnathan Washburn’s mohawk, Timothy Beard, 19, told him to delete the picture from his digital camera, according to the affidavit.
The man refused and Beard took his $100 Oakley sunglasses, the affidavit said. When the victim tried to get his sunglasses back, according to the affidavit, Washburn hit him on the left side of the head with the skateboard. Police found Washburn inside a nearby bar and Beard, with the sunglasses, across the street near the 400 block of Sixth Street, the affidavit said.
Beard was charged with theft from a person, which is a state jail felony. Washburn was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony. They were both in Travis County jail as of Thursday afternoon.
