I'm not a fan of unnecessary or elective bloodshed of brown people in these countries but many of these things have a shelf life, if they are near expiration date, isn't it better to use them instead of letting such costly toys go to waste?

No. Not if it means driving us further and further into debt, wasting more human life, creating more enemies spanning a larger range of the Middle East, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.

That would be like buying an HDTV one can't afford, and then, realizing that it was a bad financial decision, saying, "Well, since I've already got it, it would be a waste not to by a BluRay player and invest in a surround-sound system and subscribing to DirecTV." One learns to cut one's losses.

Huh? People are DYING when these "toys" are used. People in a SOVEREIGN nation. We have no business being over there and interfering in a sovereign nation's affairs. NONE.

I'm not saying WE should be intervening, but the rebels in Benghazi have been calling for European and Arab intervention. They want the no fly zone.

I was sarcasming.
But it is not accident that we end up in a major war on average every 20 years.

I'm sure you can personally vouch for their integrity, honesty, and ideals of representative government right? And if you can, you can also make sure these same honest people will come to power if we intervene, correct?

We would not have won independence without the aid of the French. If the rebels largely want our help, and they are facing somebody who indiscriminately bombs their own people, then I would say the intervention is justified.

Although it should still receive congressional approval, Barbary War style.

I wonder if the guidance systems got the bugs worked out...

There was a "slight" problem with these "precision" guided munitions landing in the wrong places before....

Also - Libya does buy munitions from the former USSR - just like Iraq. Presumably these include GPS jamers - just like Iraq....

Note news reports of 2 cruise missiles landing "near" Gaddafi’s bunker...
