So if you've seen Ann Coulter's latest appearance on O'Rielly, you know that she was arguing that high doses of radiation (higher than what the government says you should get) are good for you. She sites the New York Times and The London Times. Thoughts?
It's a big claim, but there is little debate on the net.

Yea, maybe, if you have to do any shredding of large objects.

Wtf lol. Has she never heard of Marie Curie? Or the problems that occurred when people would actually take radium in relatively small but prolonged doses for "medicinal" purposes?

Ya. There's a good amount of evidence against her. I find no sources for her argument, including the professor mentioned from Pitt.
I honestly have never listened to her before, but I know she endorsed Ron in 2012, so this took me by surprise.

Huh? Coulter?

She didn't endorse Ron in 08 nor will she in 2012. She merely made an off-handed remark about potentially supporting Ron in 2012 if the wars were over. No endorsement nor will she endorse him IMHO

Certainly radiation is good for you. Just depends on the type of radiation. Light is VERY good for you. Allows you to see things :)

I haven't researched it. But I bet she's right.

Edit: It looks to me like it's still a very open question. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation_hormesis

How humorous would it be if Rachel Maddow had a segment about low levels of radiation being okay or good for you, after her performance versus Art Robinson last year?

She's not saying that there is no threshold beyond which radiation becomes bad for you. She's only saying that the threshold the government sets is way too low.

I suspect she's right, not because I know anything about the subject, but because the government always sets the limit for exposure to anything way too low. And they keep going back and setting the limits lower and lower without a scientific basis, just because of their innate tendency to want to regulate stuff and "do something."

No always.. E.g. fluoride, thimerosal, etc.
