Charlie Sheen for President!

Is it any crazier than suggesting Sarah Palin? Among independents, Palin would lose decisively to Sheen. And according to polls, perhaps the actor could unite America:
Sheen’s unpopularity is pretty universal across party lines so it says something about the level of polarization in the country right now that Democrats would support him by a 44-24 margin for President over Palin and that Republicans would support him 37-28 over Obama.
Unfortunately, Sheen would lose to the president or any other serious candidate, given the partisan vote. I rarely agree with the moderates, but here I think they are on to something. Compared to Palin and most of the other neocons (as well as Obama) Sheen is much better on the wars, probably opposes drug prohibition, and spent most his life working in the private sector. I don’t really want him or anyone to be president, but I’d bet he would stumble upon doing something significantly good, unlike every president in my lifetime. It also doesn’t hurt that he’d start off with a low approval rating, which is always a blessing insofar as it restrains the president. An executive with little political capital is always preferable. Some think his views on 9/11 are too kooky. Could they be any worse than the idea that Saudis attack us for our freedom, and thus our government needs to occupy Afghanistan for over a decade?
