today we celebration evacuation day in the greater boston area

March 17 is Evacuation Day, a holiday observed in Suffolk County (which includes the city of Boston) and also by the public schools in Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts. The holiday commemorates the evacuation of British forces from the city of Boston following the Siege of Boston, early in the American Revolutionary War. Schools and government offices (including some Massachusetts state government offices located in Suffolk County) are closed.

That's amazing, considering how much the Massachusetts' citizenry has welcomed big government to dictate to them on almost every facet of their lives; far more than the British ever did.

Probably has to do with Boston being one of the country's main academic hubs and thus overshadows the rest of the state into the liberal bastion that it is.

amazing article in the globe today. the author and the reviewer appear to be british loyalists. the current tea party and stupid and so was the first one!
