Sen. McCain calls for release of Israeli spy

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/feedarticle/9539835

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Republican Sen. John McCain is joining his call urging the release of an American convicted of spying for Israel more than two decades ago.

Netanyahu said in a statement that McCain pledged his support in a phone conversation Thursday.

Jonathan Pollard was an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy when arrested in Washington in 1985. He pleaded guilty to passing secrets to Israel and received a life sentence.

McCain's voice joins those of other U.S. officials, including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and ex-CIA Director R. James Woolsey.

Critics say Pollard has languished in jail far longer than others sentenced for lesser offenses and that he passed on secrets that were supposed to be shared with Israel anyway.

wtf, why do we keep hearing about this Jonathan Pollard? We caught a guy for espionage. He's lucky he didn't get the firing squad.

If Obama grants him clemency........

So...let me get this right. McCain's actions not treasonous, but Bradley Manning exposing Government crimes is treasonous and should be put to death...Gotcha.

Does he also support the incarceration/execution of Bradley Manning? Hypocrite. If this was literally any other nation, even a friendly one like Canada or France, McCain would be screaming for blood.

Sure. And it's U.S. money he gets back from Israel. That's why they call those 'kickbacks'.

Be nice to do a flow chart of the circulation of Tax dollars out of our pockets through government to their data points and returned to them and the empowerment.

Robber Barrons, Swindlers and Charlatans... we lose everything bit by bit and we eventually pay the price for all of it. What a Racket!

if pollard had not spied for the soviets or iraqis at all, and the case was flimsy to begin with, then release him!
