He is kind of like a rock star, a nerdy professor, and your crazy uncle rolled into one. Ron Paul, a medical doctor and longtime Republican congressman from Texas, is a fundraising machine who, despite his quirkiness, should be considered a serious contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012. But according to the mainstream conservative press, he is nowhere in the equation.

So has the 'American Thinker' come around? They were the most vile anti-Ron Paul "conservative" website back in 2007, behind only 'Little Gr*en Footballs.'

Thankfully 'Little Gr*en footballs' has since jumped the shark with conservatives, so anything they say negatively about Paul won't be taken seriously by Republican primary voters this go-around.

Ugh. Looks just the same as it always does. Our foreign policy isn't working, but obviously our country will topple if we don't do more of it.

Here's a link to the authors archives, if anybody is interested: http://www.americanthinker.com/andrew_foy_md/

Charles Johnson leaves skid marks on the bottom of the bowl.

*Sigh*:

First off, the author was totally wrong to claim that "considering that we are currently borrowing the entire defense budget." That's false. Not a cent of the defense budget is borrowed. The Federal Government makes enough tax revenue every FY - even now, during crisis times - to pay for not one, not two, but three Pentagons, and America has only one. Annual federal budget revenue is ca. $2.1 trillion, which is more than enough to pay for three Pentagons. It's more than enough to pay for the entire military budget (including the defense budget) plus the budgets of several other agencies. Remember that the entire FY2011 military budget amounts to $685 bn (of which the defense budget is only $525 bn) and HR1 calls for reducing it to $516 bn.

The only items for which the Federal Government borrows money every year are its bloated domestic (discretionary and nondiscretionary) programs, including entitlements, which now constitute 56% of total federal spending. So Dr Foy's claim is 100% false.

Also, RP is no advocate of a truly limited govt. Yes, he delivers speeches about it and votes against some bills. And that's all he does and is good for. He has never done ANYTHING to actually limit the size of govt. - because he has never governed ANYTHING. Compare that to Sarah Palin, who reduced AK state spending by 14% and AK's dependence on federal funds by 80%.

What's sad is the ignorant masses will eat that jargon up with a spoon while totally dismissing Ron Paul and his message as insane. WTF is wrong with this country?!

Lot of misinformation going around. I had to set someone straight on Ron Paul's immigration stance in those comments.

Among other things, disgracefully poor education for most people.
