Look for the Nanny states to implode in the next decade looking like Detroit. I gotta admit I love this no tax, sound money, guns, austerity stuff. People are just going to leave the nanny states behind causing a seismic population shift in the coming years and the unions will have few to tax but the welfare crowd and themselves.

Doesn't TN have an income tax? Not on wages but capital gains, or something? Matt?

The individual income tax is imposed only on individuals and other entities receiving interest from bonds and notes and dividends from stock.

There are detractors, however. One of the five Senators who voted against the measure, Democratic Sen. Beverly Marrero of Memphis, believes the proposed amendment would hamstring future assemblies, subordinating their will to the will of the current legislature. Besides, said Marrero, “I think it is bad ... for Tennessee.”

Nooooooooo! Taxes are goooood!

This is good news. I remember living in TN when around 2000 we worked hard to stop a personal income tax (on wages). Of course, taxes still increased by 800 million or so, so we still lost. However, better to have a bunch of really high taxes and no income tax than a bunch of pretty high taxes and an income tax. If this bill/amendment/whatever it is, becomes law, it may help ensure that the project looking to pick one county in the South and encourage liberty lovers that don't want to move to NH to move there.

Yeah it's called the "Hall Income Tax". There are several bills in the legislature to do away with it right now, but I am not sure how it's going to play out. I'm focused on other things at the moment.

Nooooooooo! Taxes are goooood!

Taxes create jobs and make sure income is equally distributed! The rich should pay their fair share of taxes!

It's costing me about $5000 a year in lost wages to stay in North Carolina. My employer allows work-from-home and I'm seriously considering it. If not moving to a "no income tax" state, then at least to one of the states with a flat tax, that is lower.

Mecklenburg county has high sales taxes too.

I'll be the first to move to a state that prohibits: state income tax, federal income tax and primary residence property tax. I'm all for a progressive sales tax. Make it 25% on luxury goods. I'm tired of being robbed monthly.
