These people must be incapable of non-critical thinking, or they would have noticed the obvious detorioration of the dollar's purchasing power over the past few years (well, the past 100 years, really, but let's not make their brains hurt too badly ;))

You said this in Utah's thread.

What is it that 'fails', and after that, what 'fails' so badly that it would be better to do nothing? (i.e. hold on to FRNs and continue to use them as tender until there's nothing left to barter with)

My reply to the same question in the Utah thread:

Yes, please do explain Hazek.

The bill limits legal tender to only coins minted by the U.S. Mint (http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&identifier=1000) which doesn't want to mint them anymore. So if you have a bullion bar or a bullion coin it's still not legal tender. That's the big problem numero uno. The big problem numero dos is that it's too vague about how the value of the coins is determined whether it's by it's weight or face value.

And do so in this other thread:

Where Gunny is asking for input before submitting a similar bill in NC.

Already made my contribution: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?282661-North-Carolina-Bullion-Coin-and-Shot-as-Legal-State-Tender-Act-of-2011&p=3150526#post3150526

Don't get me wrong it's not nothing I just feel they could have done so much more if they changed it by just a wee bit.

What do you mean when you say the mint "doesn't want to mint them anymore"?
Don't they mint new gold and silver eagles every year?

Quite often, the mint has been rationing those, using the excuse they can't get enough blanks to make them out of.

Edit: Of course that is breaking the law. I guess they can do things others can't though.

“(i)(1) Notwithstanding section 5111 (a)(1) of this title, the Secretary shall mint and issue the gold coins described in paragraphs (7), (8,) (9), and (10) of subsection (a) of this section, in quantities sufficient to meet public demand,

Thanks to Ron Paul for coming up with this legislation.

I just gave representative BObby Franklin a call at his office: 404.656.0152

His secretary was sweet as pie.. Just called to thank him for introducing this bill and although I am from New Jersey, if Georgia can get this kind of bill passed into law there would be people like me from all over the country who would be sending our money to Georgia in droves..

I told her I heard online that Bobby Franklin was getting a little bit of flack from people over the bill but she down played that as she says thats part of politics.. I told her well anybody that doesnt like it they can go F themselves.. haha

She was a major sweetheart.

They were very appreciative of the call.

She's probably used to getting calls with people frothing at the mouth, screaming and making death threats.
