It's Time to Take Out the Trash! (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=193689507320262)

Date: Sunday, March 6
Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Location:
Capitol Square in Madison, Wisconsin

153 Attending

It's not about partisanship or protests, but pride.

It is time to take out the trash... literally. In true Flash Mob fashion, on Sunday at exactly 1300 hours (1:00 pm for you non-military types) we will do an extensive police call (pick up the trash) around the capitol square. Regardless of the state the grounds are in, we will do this as both a literal and symbolic way to show our respect for our home.
TEA Partiers know how this is done. It is time to show OUR pride for OUR state OUR way and be the example.
Even if you cannot attend, please share this and invite all of your sane friends who share our love of Wisconsin.

No signs, no screaming, just a necessary cleaning.

Flashback:

Officials say it'll cost $7.5 million to clean up glue, tape, posters left from protesters (http://www.fox6now.com/news/witi-20110303-capitol-cleanup-costs,0,5141893.story?track=rss)

Madison, Wisconsin — nicknamed Madtown — launched the fight between public-employee unions that want to continue the status quo, and taxpayers concerned over debt.

Did it actually cost $7.5 million as Fox tried to claim? http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20110304/GPG0101/110304049/Wisconsin-officials-back-off-7-5-million-Capitol-cleanup-estimate

MADISON — Wisconsin officials now say the cost to repair damage at the state Capitol could be as low as $350,000.

Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch says the original $7.5 million estimate to repair marble damaged by tape was a "high-end" estimate. An updated report from DOA says a majority of the nearly $350,000 would cover a crew to perform "very limited" restoration on marble as well as landscape restoration.

DOA originally said it would need $7 million to repair damage and between $60,000 and $500,000 just to assess the condition of the building.

Who knows how much it will cost. Mixed estimates.

Cleanup cost estimates range from $347,500 to $7,500,000 (http://host.madison.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/article_87fdc162-46ce-11e0-bb6e-001cc4c03286.html), depending on who you ask.

Wisconsin officials say the lower number is the more accurate.

I think they would have a better idea of the cost than Fox would. (the source you cite is "The Blaze" which is run by Glenn Beck- he isn't always known for his accuracy).

LOL "this is what democracy looks like!"

I guess the Founding Fathers weren't so crazy after all. :D

"The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived."
- John Quincy Adams

"Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."
- James Madison

Democracy is the most vile form of government
- James Madison

"Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide."
- John Adams

I guess you are right. If you ask Fox, it is $7.5 milliion. If you ask state officials, (the ones who will be paying for it with the tax dollars) it is $350,000. I am more inclined to go with the state officials. The Beck writers include the bigger number even after the figure was shown to be inaccurate. That is not good reporting.

Fox News didn't create the "$7.5 million" figure out of thin air. They were quoting an official response they received.

You are correct- sorry if I made it sound like they made it up. But they did retract it and yet the Beck piece still uses it- along with the lower number which shows the writers were aware of the changed figure but reported it anyways.
