The Montana State House just voted 64-36 to repeal a medical marijuana law approved by voters in 2004.

http://www.mpp.org/states/montana/house-roll-call-on-hb-161.html

Republicans voted 63-5 in favor of repealing the medical marijuana law, Democrats voted 31-1 against repeal.

Republicans who opposed repeal (the good guys!):

Steve Gibson (http://leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/62nd/leg_info.asp?HouseID=1&SessionID=105&LAWSID=8092)
Austin Knudsen (http://leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/62nd/leg_info.asp?HouseID=1&SessionID=105&LAWSID=8078)
Mike Miller (http://leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/62nd/leg_info.asp?HouseID=1&SessionID=105&LAWSID=6476)
Jerry O'Neil (http://leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/62nd/leg_info.asp?HouseID=1&SessionID=105&LAWSID=8064)
Bob Wagner (http://leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/62nd/leg_info.asp?HouseID=1&SessionID=105&LAWSID=6487)

The Democrat who supported repeal was Robert Mehlhoff (http://leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/62nd/leg_info.asp?HouseID=1&SessionID=105&LAWSID=6474).

The good news is that this was not passed with a veto-proof majority. Montana's governor is Brian Schweitzer (http://www.brianschweitzer.com/) (D).

Brian Schweitzer will veto this....for a Democrat, he's got quite a libertarian streak.

I see a lot more of this happening in the coming future.....one "side" getting some "victory" and the other side repealing it a few years later.

I sure love those limited government Republicans who want to come between a patient and his or her doctor.

Ya, it's curious to me seeing all the new States' Rights advocates come about.

I think it's a good thing, but I often imagine that if it ever were to happen where this country moved to a minimal, constitutional federal gov't again, we'd end up with 50 little tyrannical state governments. lol

Better 50 little ones than one big one. With the little ones, it is much easier to change them.

It happened here several times before too. The people in Montana will allow it again.

Marijuana-related ballot measures voted on previously by Arizonans include:

* Proposition 200 in 1996: Allowed doctors to prescribe drugs to seriously and terminally ill patients. The measure's significant provisions were later repealed by the Arizona Legislature.

* Proposition 300 and Proposition 301 in 1998: The repeals by the Legislature were overturned in yet another citizen vote, but wording of the measure required a written prescription, allowing the United States Drug Enforcement Administration to threaten to revoke prescription-writing priveleges of doctors who wrote medical marijuana prescriptions.

* Proposition 203 in 2002: An initiative failed that would have allowed a written recommendation by a doctor sufficient enough to obtain medical marijuana.

Yes, I agree. It really brings to heart the old quote about the quest for liberty being eternal vigilance.

Mind your own damn business, I think people are sick of this krap. People don't send you up there (Especially the GOPers) to meddle in people's lives....it is none of your business you twisted demented weirdos.

Can you say: CAREER LIMITING MOVE? - I thought you could.

This is a classic case of Darwinism in action. hmmm... Darwin Awards.... maybe we should do political Darwin awards and thank these folks for voting against their constituents wishes, as demonstrated by their votes, and in so doing removing themselves from the political gene pool.

Use that as a campaign ad against them and or/ if the state allows attach a petition for recall from office, etc.

But yeah, Political Darwin Awards could go somewhere....
