The Carmike 14 cinema in Dover, Delaware, was fined $80,000 for discrimination because its manager asked patrons to refrain from cellphone use during a Tyler Perry movie — Seriously

This incident is one of those, "you've got to be kiddin' me", moments.... Thankfully, it was overturned by the higher court, but these "human rights" commissions need to be jettisoned into outer space.

Manager of Dover theater vindicated

The Delaware Supreme Court overturned a decision by the state Human Relations Commission that the manager of a Dover cinema was racist when he used a "condescending tone" in telling a crowd of largely black patrons viewing a Tyler Perry movie to silence their cell phones and remain quiet.

Am I really supposed to believe this has something to do with Obama? As if dumb stuff like this didn't happen during the Bush administration?

The obvious solution is to stop showing Tyler Perry movies. This would be good for everyone, not just the theater.

I have been to this theatre many times and they have a real problem at pretty much every film with people chatting it up on their phones during movies.

The ruling against the theater was made by the Delaware “Human Relations Commission” (HRC) in 2007 and was just overturned by the state’s Supreme Court, but it should serve as a shot across the bow to all of us: Human-rights-commission tyranny has come to America.
Well, since it did happen in 2007, I would have to think Obama had nothing to do with it.

Well talking about silly movie theater lawsuits, here is one in my area.

Apparently you can't have under aged kids willfully drive to go get food on their breaks or use a trash compactor....the government just wants money plain and simple.

The article itself doesn't claim Obama is responsible, but certainly his "Progressive Democrat" mindset is the cause of the "Human Rights Commissions Tyranny (http://thenewamerican.com/index.php/opinion/selwyn-duke/6185-the-tyranny-of-human-rights-commissions)."

Heh...I skimmed right over that part.

Seriously Frank...just admit that it's a dopey title for the article. If it's a "progressive mindset" thing, and it might be--then title it with that. As-is, it's more than a touch dishonest.

I can see your point. I viewed "Obama's America" to mean "Progressive America." Right now Obama is the poster boy for Progressivism.

Given that he's cutting domestic spending, and increasing domestic spending at the same time, and increasing the warfare state--I don't know that he'd really qualify as a progressive poster boy. But then again I've never gotten a straight answer on what a progressive actually is.

Here's a pretty watered down and politically correct definition of Progressivism.

Wikipedia: Progressivism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressivism)

Progressivism is a political attitude favoring or advocating changes or reform through governmental action. Progressivism is often viewed in opposition to conservative or reactionary ideologies. The Progressive Movement began in cities with settlement workers and reformers who were interested in helping those facing harsh conditions at home and at work. The reformers spoke out about the need for laws regulating tenement housing and child labor. They also called for better working conditions for women.

In the United States, the term progressivism emerged in the late 19th century into the 20th century in reference to a more general response to the vast changes brought by industrialization: an alternative to both the traditional conservative response to social and economic issues and to the various more radical streams of socialism and anarchism which opposed them. Political parties, such as the Progressive Party, organized at the start of the 20th century, and progressivism made great strides under American presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Lyndon Baines Johnson.

Yes! Think of the CHILDREN! It MUST be the fault of the movie! We need more laws to make people not racist!
