"I don't care about the apology," said a weeping Mohammed Bismil, the 20-year-old brother of two boys killed in the strike, in a telephone interview. "The only option I have is to pick up a Kalashnikov, RPG, or a suicide vest to fight."

While most civilian casualties in Afghanistan are caused by the insurgents and not by coalition forces, deaths such as these often fuel animosity towards the U.S.-led fight to cripple the Taliban.

How do the religious right justify these wars?

How do the religious right justify these wars?

The same way the secular left and many others do. Our current agnostic socialist prez has tripled the number of troops in Afghanistan since his religious predecessor left office.

Just days earlier, another coalition attack in Kunar province killed 65 Afghan civilians, according to Afghan investigators.

In that incident, U.S. military officials have challenged the Afghan conclusions. While coalition officials continue to examine the case, their preliminary review determined that the attack killed militants, not civilians.

So U.S. believes that the 65 militants were all standing together. Bullshit. A lot of civilians are dying and they know it.

This shit just burns me when I read about it. It should burn Americans too, but most have a "well, war is hell", "gotta breaks some eggs if you want to make an omelette" mentality.

How do the religious right justify these wars?

With religion. Some Christians have their own little jihad going.

More evidence of blowback from this article:

"I don't care about the apology," said a weeping Mohammed Bismil, the 20-year-old brother of two boys killed in the strike, in a telephone interview. "The only option I have is to pick up a Kalashnikov, RPG, or a suicide vest to fight."

Until we realize why people hate America, we will spend and fight ourselves into oblivion. Afghanistan has always been the graveyard of foreign invaders.
