Witness report: I work as an editor and flight trainer for Lufthansa Airlines. The bus I was riding in passed by the Air Force bus 1 minute after the shooting. I saw a bleeding soldier being lead off the bus by another who had taken his shirt off to help him stop the flow of blood...the bus moved on and apparently he died a few minutes later.

I've done the FRA Rhein- Main bus ride while stationed in Germany. My first impression of FRA on leaving the plane was I saw two BGS guys with MP5s and kevlar vests - I'm thinking "we're not in Kansas anymore."

Had to lol at this description. I married a soldier years ago when I was *gasp* 16. I was in Frankfurt airport a just turned 17 year old. Talk about culture shock!!! I believe just about the same thought as yours went through my mind. The people in that part of Germany were not American friendly at all!!! Most of them glared and could tell right off the bat who were the newbies. I was glad we were stationed in southern Germany. They were a bit more hospitable.

There was a lot of hate back then from people of all different cultures towards the American soldiers and their families (late '80's). This is sad but not surprising since we continue to anger others with our presence. I wonder if they had a clue how hostile people are because of that career as a chosen profession? Many of the guys I knew back then were clueless about what they got themselves into when they signed up.

They shot up a bunch of US troops back in the 80s IIRC.

They sent a message in 1998 that they were disbanding.

Still, his origins are of Kosovar and Albanian extraction. All the comments I'm reading on other news sites are saying that Kosovars and Albanians love America because of America's support of them against the Serbs. Kosovo even built a statue of Clinton in Pristina. This incident is quite the shock for the proponents of intervention.

Tirana - Vast and untouched reserves of oil and gas have been discovered in northern Albania, one of Central Asia's and Eastern Europe's leading petroleum corporations announced Thursday. The report was compiled by Gustavson Associates LLC on behalf of Manas Petroleum Corporation, which has been awarded a contact by the Albanian government to explore the north of the country for oil and gas reserves.

According to their findings, the unproven reserve holds up to 2.987 billion barrels of oil and 3.014 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

We were in Augsburg from 1987-1989. From what I've read they shut down the base he was stationed at a few years back...

Three Germans arrested in Kosovo on this week are allegedly spies working for a German intelligence agency, German media reported Saturday, Nov. 22. Lawmakers are demanding details of the arrests.

The three Germans were arrested Wednesday in Kosovo are agents for the Germany Federal Intelligence Agency (BND), Der Spiegel newsmagazine and the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported Saturday.

The Germans were arrested by Kosovar police in connection with an attack on the European Union's headquarters in Pristina on Nov. 14. No one was hurt in the explosion and indications of the attack's background or possible motives remain unclear.
