This book release is an important part of 2012. Why is this cover so horrible? I think we need to tell Ron to request a new one.

Ok, obviously this is my subjective opinion, but people do judge books by their covers and this is a horrible cover that will hurt sales.

I think there is a clear winner here.

I think it looks too similar to the cover of "The Revolution: A Manifesto" :

Well someone has to say it: Don't judge a book by its cover.

Good luck with that - People do!

Rands cover is brilliant- great visual concept.

Ron's cover needs some serious help if he's going to get people's attention....

I like it...but then again I don't mind Ron's ill-fitting suits or black professorial sneaker-shoes either.

It's not that bad but the corners look weird off the book.

People look at covers to decide whether or not they'll get a book?

I'm sure it factors in when it's placed at a book store display, but in general I don't think it matters much.

This is super low on the list of things to get fixed/changed.

Looks to me like it's supposed to be the shape of the tattered Constitution?

Either way, yeah it's not great.

It's not an eye catching cover. If I were in a book store, or browsing Amazon, and I wasn't specifically looking for Ron's book, but just browsing fiscal conservative books in general, I would pass over that book without pausing because the cover doesn't catch the eye. It is a calming cover. The sort of thing that the primitive mind says "This is safe, no need to look closer for a predator". Reds, whites, gloss, etc are the things which catch the eye. They say "DANGER! Look closer, something over there needs your attention!" The flash of a wet nose, teeth, glossy fur, blood, etc are ingrained in our primitive instincts as things to look at more carefully because they may be life or death.

I think it's designed to look like an old, well-worn manuscript that's been consulted often and shared with many, withstanding the test of time. Like Ron Paul's principles. ;)

The only thing that I kind of question, is the white around the edges - I would've used black or some dark color as the "background" for the cover art. (eh, we're all critics!) It may look different in person too.

It is understated, classic, timeless. It is a beautiful book cover. It does not glare at the browser, it does not insinuate anything but trust (old parchment). This is a humble, truthful text. Its author is humble, truthful. No frills needed. See?

Would you rather a red, black & silver with raised puffy text and "16 pages of Shocking Photos!" centerfold?

I have designed book covers for mass market in many genres, so perhaps you fit that "Tabloid Journalism" demographic. Kind of like True Crime, but held in a bit more respect (maybe no longer!)

I believe this cover is perfect. Just like the others. Total class, all the way.

I get what you're saying and I agree... I just wish the typography was a little more refined instead of 'default' looking.

Ok, so... what is "refined" to you? Comic Sans? Curlz MT? ;)

You can't have the one without the other. The typeface chosen is wholly appropriate. Available on all moveable type machines everywhere, LOL. Just close your eyes and imagine the smell... It's all about the Gestalt.

LOL!

I like it. (Ron's version.)

I thought Rand's looked like a Grisham novel, to be honest, and prefer Ron's, but they are different people and are entitled to their own choices in covers, in my book.

This. I don't tell Ron Paul anything. I ask nicely so he doesn't pick and leave.
