It would be premature to say the tide is turning towards the unions in Wisconsin, but it appears that for tonight at least, the momentum is on their side.

According to reports via Twitter, Republican state senator Dale Schultz has withdrawn his support for Governor Scott Walker's union-busting bill. Last week Schultz, a veteran lawmaker who's served in the senate for 20 years, offered a "compromise" proposal in an attempt to break the deadlock, but it was rejected by Walker and panned by the protesters. Update: this has yet to be confirmed.

Sen. Dale Schultz (R-Richland Center) has expressed serious concerns about Walker's budget repair bill but has yet to say publicly whether he'd vote against it.

Schultz has been the lone Republican holdout in the state Senate against the bill, which would repeal most union bargaining rights for public employees. He has put forward an amendment that would restore the collective bargaining rights after two years.

"Senator Schultz's position on (the bill) is well known and has not changed," spokesman Todd Allbaugh said. "He continues to work with his colleagues to try to find a compromise in the best interests of the state of Wisconsin."

Unions now using their money and connections to buy-off the opposition? Sounds like it.

Why you say sounds like it. Did they offer a bribe?

Schultz has been a longtime moderate, and there are a lot of union members in his district.

Big deal.

There are 19 Republicans and 14 Democrats. This guy was the only GOP hold-out. Even without him and every Democrat, the bill still has the simple majority support needed for passage.

But as usual with Agorism's leftie rumor-millls passing themselves off as news gatherers, this isn't a change in the position. He's never been on board.
