View Full Version : Any other constitutionalists in government?

Is there anyone else anywhere in government that even comes close to Ron Paul in upholding the Constitution?
I started thinking about it after pondering who RP's running mate might be, but I haven't been able to find any notable person in government who would be as staunch a constitutionalist as Paul.
Does anyone else know of anybody?

Sadly, I don't believe so. Look at all the legislation that gets passed where Ron Paul is the only person voting against it :(

I think Tom Coburn is. He's the senator from Oklahoma. Only him and Paul get a 100% rating on the "freedom index".
He is for the war though.

Coburn? Nope. He wants to stay the course in Iraq, he voted to authorize and re-authorize the Patriot Act, and he's a mixed bag on Second Amendment rights.

In my neck of the woods, Rick Jore is far and away the best constitutionalist, but as a state legislator, he doesn't have much name recognition outside of Montana.
I actually like Coburn a lot. Despite not agreeing with him on all issues (who here agrees with Dr. Paul on everything?), he is renowned for sticking to his principles, even if he's the only one in the Senate to vote against a bill. If Paul were to choose someone in government as a running mate, Dr. Coburn (yes, he's an M.D. too) would be at the top of my list.
