Iowa may move the date of their caucus if Florida does not change its primary date.

Any state that holds its primary in January will be penalized by the RNC. The number of delegates allocated will be significantly reduced or eliminated entirely. Although the move to an earlier date may boost the economy temporarily, it certainly does not give the state more of an actual impact on the elections. In terms of delegates, it actually reduces the impact.

Florida aint gonna change their date. Atleast they say they won't. Will be interesting to see how RNC handle's this. They don't want to have Florida the host of the Republican convention stripped of their delegates. It also benefits Romney to have Florida earlier so I am pretty sure the RNC will stand by Florida.

Yes, it will indeed be interesting.
My previous post needs corrected. I mentioned that the delegates allocated could be reduced entirely, but the RNC rules state specifically that the number of delegates will be reduced by 50% if the state party violates the timing rules.
In 2008, Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Wyoming were all penalized for violating the timing rules. I put emphasis on Florida because this history shows that they won't likely budge on the date.

true. I think what will happen is Iowa,New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina move their dates up as well. This means the elections will start a month earlier than originally planned. Florida will be 5th state.
