That is only 12 minutes of it. They never put out the full one.

But I want to see this. WE need to youtube it if someone has the capability. Unfortunately, the virtual summit starts at the same time, and I don't want to miss the straw poll in case you have to be there at the beginning to vote (I have no interest in Pawlenty's speech.) So I will be switching back and forth at least a bit.

We need to mark this video for our own videos.

Rand Paul wins by TKO. Spitzer's corner (CNN producers) threw in the towel just before round 2 could begin.

WINNER!

Interesting. When I saw the title of the thread I was wondering why Rand would agree to speak with Spitzer again. Funny that he gets sent to his corner for this interview. He should also have to forgo his dessert at dinner tonight, too...

She knows she got a 'nugget' on Afghanistan that will be repeated widely, so her name goes up, too. But that is what a good journalist does, gets a guest to open up.

Most likely. Spitzer would have been there with a clipboard and a detailed summary of Rand's proposed budget. Then he would start berating Rand for cutting off funding for baby formula and heating oil.

Yeah, that's just dumb. Why would they upload just a two minute clip and not make the whole thing available while they were at it?

I guess it goes to show that no watches CNN, since apparently no one has a recording of it to upload. The entire Freedom Watch interview has already been uploaded multiple times, after all.

Ouch..Rand said nation building was "noble." And that 5 to 10 thousand troops would be appropriate in Afghanistan. However, I realize this is politics he is playing. His goal now appears to be calling out both parties and positioning himself uniquely. By wording it this way, he has indemnified himself against a rebuttal that says "Rand Paul is crazy with his military budget proposal..we can't simply withdraw from Afghanistan!!!!He's effectively sabotaged that argument. He can say "my proposed deep military cuts do not require us to abandon our goals in Afghanistan." Or something like that. Well played, Rand.

I'm glad that Rand has his own message and doesn't use the kind of rhetoric that many people here use. I think that trying to rebuild the country of Afghanistan is noble, but I'm just opposed to it because;

1) We don't have the money to do it.
2) Our own infrastructure is falling apart here at home.
3) We should never use our military for nation building. Our military should only be used to "kill people and break things."
4) It's simply not realistic or in our nation security interests to go around the world trying to spread freedom to people.

Which they completely edited out of what they post on the CNN page. They edit out all of Rand's specifics to make it look as if Spitzer 'won' by 'showing' that Rand had no specifics, as well. Which is sheer nonsense.

Nope, Rand did not call "nation building" noble.

He said we need to decide if we want to engage in nation building - which is what he said we're doing now with our current level of troops. He recommended a much smaller contingent in order to prevent their reorganization. "It's noble that we want to help people, but we're doing it with borrowed money." -Rand Paul. QFT.

I'm also glad that Rand has his own message and doesn't use the kind of rhetoric Traditional Conservative uses here. He for example doesn't say that he should vote for the budget the Republicans proposed, just because it isn't as bad as the democrats. In the words of TC... "that's one of the promises Rand might have to break". I'm glad Rand doesn't think like TC.
