About 1,000 union workers held a rally Thursday near Love Park in Philadelphia to show their support for public-sector unions and protesters in Wisconsin.

The third event in Pennsylvania over the past three days, dubbed a "We Are Wisconsin" solidarity event, was organized by labor groups such as Philadelphia Jobs with Justice, Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO, the SEIU and Penn ACTION.

Meanwhile, union leaders say they'll fight any right-to-work bill to ban mandatory union membership in Pennsylvania.

This comes a day after Gov. Tom Corbett's spokesman said he would sign such a measure if the legislature approved it.

Union leaders say they don't expect any right-to-work bills to pass the legislature, but they'll do whatever is necessary to stop it.

That is really stupid of them. This is not the time they want to lose public support. Many, such as myself, didn't even know there were places that MADE people be in a union to work until they brought up that card check thing. It is not going to raise public sympathy with them to say they can FORCE people to be in unions and pay them dues as a price of being able to have a job.

I believe Unions are still rather strong in my home state of PA, but I wonder what a boon to the economy it would be if this passed?
