Just came through from C4L:

LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERT

SUPPORT HB 463: CHANGES TO KENTUCKY CRIMINAL CODE

Update: The bill passed the Judicary Committee unanimously and should be heard in the full Senate Monday. They were going to hear it today but a number of members wanted time to study the bill first. Let's encourage them to do the right thing!

If you love liberty, it must enrage you that our state has the fastest growing prison population in the nation. It also comes at great expense. We simply cannot continue to lock everyone up for everything. We need to address how people who commit nonviolent crimes are handled in the criminal justice system, and this bill does just that. It will save $6 million per year and stop ruining the lives of minor offenders. We don't like everything about it, but all in all it is a good bill with much-needed change.
