Washington (CNN)– Rep. Ron Paul heads to New Hampshire next month, his first visit since the 2008 presidential election to the state that holds the first primary in the race for the White House.
A senior adviser to the Republican congressman from Texas, who is considering another run for president, confirms to CNN that Paul will be in the state on March 24 and 25.
Among his events, Paul is scheduled to headline the Dover Republican Committee's inaugural Lincoln-Reagan dinner.
Paul was last in the state was during the New Hampshire primary in January 2008, when he was running for the Republican presidential nomination.
"Dr. Paul is really looking forward to visiting New Hampshire once again. The Granite State has wonderful traditions of Liberty and limited government and he is excited to see old friends and new faces alike," Paul political director Jesse Benton tells CNN.
Paul also heads to Iowa early next month to speak to an influential pro-family social conservative group. Iowa's caucuses traditionally kick off the presidential primary and caucus calendar.
Earlier this month Paul, for the second straight year, came out on top at the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference, a large annual gathering of conservative activists from across the country.
If Paul does run, it would be his third bid for the White House. He ran as a libertarian presidential candidate in 1988 and as a Republican in 2008. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released earlier this month indicates that 7 percent of Republican and independent-leaning Republicans say they would like to see Paul as their party's nominee.
Meanwhile, Paul's political action committee, Liberty PAC, brought in around $700,000 on Monday.
