There are obvious counterarguments, such as that Paul should run for Kay Bailey Hutchison's Senate seat in Texas instead (one poll shows him within the margin of error of the primary lead). Moreover, the chances of this happening are probably slim to zero: once the presidential bug bites a politician, they have trouble running for little things like the Senate. But it seems to me that a nascent movement would benefit more from having two senators than two presidential candidates."

I'm inclined to agree with him that Johnson could do the most good running for the Senate seat in New Mexico, but he's also probably right that Johnson has his heart set on a presidential bid. I can understand his feelings, of course, since he's been a chief executive for so long, first of his construction company, then of his state. But it's a pity: Johnson's a relatively young, vigorous guy - he can afford to wait for another cycle to make a national run, and he would do a lot of good in the Senate in the meantime.
