Weigel ends with a takeaway about how even if you can't 'participate' with booths etc (and we had rows of booths, didn't we?) You could still attend. But likely not influence who was on the ballot...(my addition)

But would we want to attend? Everyone knows when we attend, we win. So why bother with them at all? I sure see no reason to give them our money if they go through with this.

Yes. It is an attempt to kick libertarians out.

http://dailycaller.com/2011/02/18/groups-supporting-dont-ask-dont-tell-repeal-or-gay-marriage-will-no-longer-be-allowed-to-participate-at-cpac/

This isn't about GOProud or gay marriage at all! This is about excluding certain organizations from CPAC!!! Read the language without allowing yourself to be distracted by the word "gay" or the term "gay marriage"!:

"The American Conservative Union… will now vet organizations before allowing them to participate."

"…groups … for the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” … would not be welcome."

"If you are … straight, and you advocate gay marriage" ( OR DADT AS STATED ABOVE!) "that’s not within the scope of what we believe the three legs of the stool of the movement are.”

"The commonly held three legs of the conservative movement include

fiscal conservatism,
social conservatism, and
national defense conservatism." (wtf?)

The new vetting process may have farther-reaching implications...

"Cardenas stressed that gay individuals would remain welcome to attend CPAC."

“It has got to do with the principles you advocate” said Cardenas. “There are a number of gays in America who don’t advocate gays in the military.... They’ll fit within the tent.”

Apparently GOProud doesn't take this story seriously since they don't even mention it on either their homepage or "newsroom". www. goproud. org .php5-12.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/
Nor is breitbart covering this "story"!

But it's interesting to note that on Monday (2/14) Former ACU Executive Director Chuck Muth Joined GOProud’s Advisory Council!

Former ACU Executive Director Chuck Muth Joins GOProud’s Advisory Council
Christopher R. Barron, Chairman of the GOProud Board – “Chuck Muth is a committed conservative who brings a wealth of experience working within the movement.”

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Chuck Muth, former Executive Director of the American Conservative Union, is joining the organization’s Advisory Council.

“Chuck Muth is a committed conservative who brings a wealth of experience working within the movement,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “We are honored to have Chuck join the GOProud leadership team.”

“A person doesn’t have to be straight to think right,” Muth said. “While it’s expected that not everyone will agree with every position of any given organization, GOProud certainly meets Ronald Reagan’s 80 percent threshold for qualifying as an ally. And I would remind those who wish to exclude gays from the conservative movement that we win majorities through addition, not subtraction. I’m honored to have been invited to join the national advisory council of this important and bona fide conservative organization.”

Muth joins Margaret Hoover, Grover Norquist, Andrew Breitbart and Liz Mair on the GOProud Advisory Council.

Chuck Muth is President and CEO of Citizen Outreach and a professional political communications consultant.

He is a former executive director of the American Conservative Union, a National Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus, a Clark County (NV) GOP chairman and former Nevada Republican Party executive director.

Chuck is also a professional campaign trainer who volunteers as a national field instructor for numerous groups, campaigns and organizations.

He is also the publisher of Nevada News & Views – Nevada’s leading online conservative newsblog – an independent free-lance columnist, an author, and a regular guest on political and public affairs TV and radio programs.

Chuck lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, with his wife Gia, their two daughters, Kristen and Jenna, and son, “CJ.”

“Chuck is one of the most well respected voices in the conservative movement and we are incredibly fortunate to have him join the GOProud team,” concluded Barron.

By the way GOProud supports Donald Trump and in fact invited him to CPAC.

The gay conservative group GOProud doesn’t regret inviting real-estate mogul and possible 2012 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to speak at a conservative conference last week, even though he donated $50,000 to former White House Chief of Staff and Democratic Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel.

“We have absolutely no regrets in inviting and promoting Mr. Trump at CPAC,” GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron told The Daily Caller. “Why in the world would we? Mr. Trump stole the show on Thursday, brought new energy and enthusiasm to the conference and delivered a hell of a speech.”

From The Republican Liberty Caucus:

It is unclear if an organization such as ours — which advocates for individual liberty and personal responsibility — will “fit within the tent”.

The “Personal Liberties” section of the RLC Statement of Principles includes the following language:
“We affirm the principle that individual rights and liberties are unlimited, as specified in the Ninth Amendment. No law should deny, disparage or restrict the right of every person to privacy, freedom of travel, association, possession of substances, or adult consensual behaviors. We oppose any requirement of government authorization prior to exercising those fundamental freedoms.”

In other words, Republican Liberty Caucus members do not believe that government has the authority to restrict the non-violent associations of consenting adults.

The Republican Liberty Caucus’s participation in the 2011 CPAC conference was met with support and enthusiasm by those who attended the conference. Students and others told us they enjoyed learning more about a grassroots organization committed to restoring America’s Founding principles.

The RLC has been consistent in support of the defense of individual rights and liberties, and praised the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal in 2010 while also blasting the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2004. RLC members believe that limited government requires fair and equal treatment of all peaceful, law-abiding citizens.

I wonder why GOProud wouldn't support RP. He wants to allow gays to get married by removing the state from the equation. He's against any form of discrimination on the government's part. He wants the government to treat every person the same, as an individual, instead of as belonging to part of a group. IMO gays would be much better off under a Ron Paul administration...

I thought it might be a reference to those who booed, but that's already been over-discussed anyway.

I read the CPAC board was only 3 people. Grover Norquist (a avid Paul supporter), Keane (very Paul friendly) and some other guy.

But Keane is gone so that shifts the balance.
