I am so impressed with the information Rand has at his fingertips. I can understand Ron being so knowledgable and being able to toss out numbers, facts, in interviews, but it's uncanny at this point in Rand's political career to do so. Ya sure don't see the other freshmen being so articulate....just talk in platitudes. Rand impresses me beyond my expectations and they were pretty high to begin with!

What? I thought them quite respectful.

I think this is the reason why it takes a while for him to propose a bill. He not only explores all the options but he also thinks about every aspect to it so he's ready to argue his position.

I think that's a trait of a powerful debater.

That was a Bill of Rights education SMACKDOWN on those fools.

Rand is really good, but he isn't as charismatic and in-your-face as his father

This could be a good thing. Ron Paul's in-your-face approach turns off many voters. Rand might be better at getting through to people.

yeah, i completely agree. It is good for getting more votes, and he talks about cutting the defense budget rather than scaling down our "empire." As an example of his ability to communicate with regular GOPers. At the same time it's not quite the rally cry that makes Ron such an endearing figure

Different things are good for different people. Rand can be quite charming, however, and he uses it to make people who oppose his arguments at least like HIM so they are willing to listen, rather than getting their backs up.

Bullshit.

At CPAC, he explicitly asked the crowd if they wanted to "opt out" of SS.

He says in this interview he wants to "shore up social security"....the point is that social security is pure SOCIALISM and should be ended (they cannot pay for it either which is second thing wrong with it).

We don't need to "shore up" what was unconstitutional and wrong to begin with. This may make him sound "reasonable" the US populace but this sends chills down my spine.

Holy crap, some common sense in the Senate. This is borderline ridiculous.

Oh, and Kilmeade is a jackass.

Yes, Rand should come out and say that SS should be ended, even for people who have paid into the system their entire lives. I'm sure Rand wants to get 2% of the vote in his 2016 re-election. Some of these posts just make me laugh.

So he needs to be an adept liar?? The topic was the deficit though. I bet Rand would say that "the system" was not constitutional to begin with if asked directly though, in the same way he was politically unpopular not endorsing aspects of the civil rights act.

"the system" is a ponzi scheme which does mean that some people will Lose what they put into it.

Rand and Ron both take the position that Social security sucks ass but that they are willing to phase it out gradually because the "system" is partly responsible for making people dependent, and that to snatch it away outright from the needy and elderly would be draconian under the circumstances of moral complicity from a perverse government.

Kilmeade was hilarious. Don't know how the guy sleeps at night knowing that any second Mohammad or Jafar are going to bust through his window to bring forth the caliphate.

Rand probably believes that personally, but he would never say it publicly. He wants to have a chance to be President someday.

Rand is so good at interviews. He's amazingly knowledgeable and agreeable. His calm and collective tone is magnetic. I like to think he is especially strong in the areas where Ron could improve.

Agreed. Great interview. I loved his rapist in the neighborhood analogy. Hard to argue with.
