This dude has balls. He really puts himself out there, doesn't shy away from the limelight. No doubt he will run for president someday, if he doesn't just announce on the show next week. :D

I bet a major reason for this appearance has to do with promoting his new book.

Rand was on SNL (lampooned) last Saturday night.

It just lists Rand & some musical act. Hopefully he will
get a lot of talk time. It may also be a good idea to fill
the audience with a bunch of Ron Paul fans in the
audience wearing the same "Ron Paul 2012" t-shirts.

I can''t wait for this, Rand could say "my dad is greatful for your support" ROTLMAO

I'm worried that Letterman won't treat him fairly. I think Rand can hold his own, but Letterman has really taken a sharp turn toward the left over the last four years. His interview with Obama a year ago was pretty vomit inducing.

This won't be like when Ron went on Leno.

That would be cool to see happen...but it would be best to do that in private before the show and confirm with Letterman that he was OK with Rand telling the rest of the world about it.

I really hope it's not just politics talk. Would love to hear Rand talk about some anecdotes from D.C. or his own life.

I agree he and Colbert are part of the left wing echo chamber. I hate to say this but how media types treat Sarah Palin has usually been a decent predictor of how they treat Rand Paul.

Maybe Paul fans booing another guest Letterman hates--Rumsfeld--might dissuade him from setting up Rand but I doubt it.

If I were Rand and Letterman started that crap I'd ignore him and turn to the camera all serious and repeat Letterman's embarrassing confession to adultery word-for-word.

Not sure. I think MRoCkEd looked up some info and found that tapings usually start at 5 PM, but we would need to go around 3:30-4 to get in the line. It may be the day of or day before....I don't think they tape too far in advance.

Big Letterman fan, no matter his politics. I hope he's fair to Rand and I'll be an even bigger fan.

Letterman tapes shows the day of airing except for the Friday show which is taped on Monday.

Letterman might try to politically assassinate him, but I think Rand will be able to defend himself well. It will be a must watch

If Rand will go there with the same naivete he had when he went to the Rachel Madcow show, Letterman (one of the lizard people) will eat him alive. I can already see his team of jokewriters at work trying to come up with things to throw at Rand. I also predict Letterman will be using the good old "special audience technique", audience that is instructed to do whatever it takes to upgrade the host and downgrade the guest (well beyond the standard "applause" or "boo" signs)

No kidding...I can understand Dave hating neo-con war mongers but wonder what the ??? about embracing the left (I guess he still has enough after the gov. takes their pound of flesh...wonder what a 95% tax rate will do to his enthusiasm??)

The official Late Show website has been updated to show this week's guests.
http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/show_info/this_weeks_guests.php

Note Rand's new book is mentioned, so he is definitely there in part to promote his new book. Also Rand is still the only non-musical guest listed, so it looks like he will at least be the main guest for the night. Maybe they will add someone later on, but I'm guessing he will be the first person brought out.
