I understand HE keeps returning to this issue because it gets him publicity.

But why do WE do it, again?

If "conservative" means "protectionist", then yeah...you sure are buddy.

Yeah. You don't see Romney or Huck going out of their way to smear Ron...its just this dunce Trump.

Romney and Huck think it is 08 again...they are going to use the ignore tactic to try to never face Ron's arguments.

Oh man, this gets my blood pumping.

He thinks just because he ran a business, he can run a country.

IIRC, there has not been a single business venture he has been head of, that did not end up in receivership, bankruptcy or requiring a "bailout" from somebody.

He won't get elected anyway. Not if the neocons see this, and they're the only vote he has:

Here we go again with the ignorance of both the media and sheeple. A man with a history of business bankruptcies and they still consider him a genius. If he wins I suppose it would be a good fit considering we have a country headed into bankruptcy and a President who had been through it repeatedly. /s

The question that has to be repeated: "Why does Donald Trump want to raise taxes on consumer goods"?

Trump is a pro-military, war-hawk, who wants to use military power as "negotiating" tool. That is his definition of "conservative".

Well, obviously, an invester in te Military Industrial Complex.

Pass legislation that no member of the government can own stock in anything they personally benefit from by their decisions, and you would see him loose TOTAL INTEREST instantly!

Are we talking about Trump or Bush?

OK, so we talk Paris Hilton into running against him.

Then again, that would probably backfire and she'd end up as his VP candidate and mistress.

Now if somebody would only inform these would be conservatives that conservation of life and liberty are part of being conservative. That means ending wars and keeping ones nose out of other peoples business.

Maybe Trump's presidential bid is ploy to promote his television show. I wouldn't put it past him to pull something like that.

I'm curious. Would AF support Donald Trump (protectionist against China) or Ron Paul (wants to maximize free trade with everyone regardless of their protectionism) for president???

Sorry - I had to! ;-)

Can't speak for AF, but if international negotiating were necessary, Trump might be good as a team member (no authority to threaten with military of course)...My preference is that there is no favoritism, so negotiation would not be necessary. That flat Tariff to replace all income taxes would be across the board, no favoritism, no negotiations needed. ;)

I don't mind you poking at me.

Ron of course, even though I think he is wrong on trade with prison economies and tariffs for reasons already exhaustively gone over.

No, not at all, since Trump has a long history of quotes and comments and books that indicate he is in no way familiar with freedom.

He may be making some noise about "protectionism" but, and I'm assuming here, it's most likely for all the wrong reasons.

The first thing to do on this front would be the elimination of "managed trade" through internationalist organizations and treaties like WTO/NAFTA/GATT and so on.

That right there would take years to do and would be an excellent start and I think we're both 100% behind that concept as is Ron.

Ron Paul supporters all see through his bullshit. But I bet he's trying to co opt a lot of Rons message/platform in order to snag away *potential* Ron Paul supporters.

He cannot be trusted.

What if Trump is the secret billionaire from 2007 and this is all some sort of elaborate ruse? LOL. On a serious note, I saw a rumor (take it for what it's worth) that Vince McMahon would be running as Trump's vice-president.

OK. It's time for Ron to officially ignore Trump. Ron needs to think of some pat response to Trump related questions. It will be demeaning for Ron to get sidetracked into some ridiculous media sideshow with Trump. Trump is pretty good at this sort of thing, so Ron should think about how to best nip it in the bud.
