Congressman Ron Paul called it like it is on Monday morning’s episode of MSNBC “Morning Joe”. While the panel was talking about spending and our overseas intervention, Dr. Paul came right out and said that the Nobel Peace Prize winning Mr. Obama is a war monger. I know this must pain many liberal democrats and progressives, but was Rep. Paul wrong?

What I hear from liberals: "he's bringing troops home from Iraq, give him time!!!"...

What will be their excuse in 2012?

It is funny that he said that, because in the chat room for that MSNBC broadcast (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?279434-MSNBC-and-CNN-Live-video-streams-Ron-Paul-coming-now!!), before Ron came on, I said the same thing. Obama is a warmonger, he has no intention of ending the wars or they would already be over. He doesn't "need more time", he has had enough time to just bring them home if that was his objective. He has full authority to end it without having to appeal to anyone else.

I don't consider him a warmonger in the overt, blatant way that previous presidents have been. It hasn't been the focus, the priority, that wars often are.

The bigger problem is that he's not the peace-loving, troop-saving, base-closing savior that people pretended he was. He's one big dumb broken promise. People are getting maimed and killed on both sides... still.

I think foreign policy (in terms of any long-term goals) is largely irrelevant to the current president, except to the extent that he can use it to further his domestic agenda.

Bush was a war monger => Obama continued Bush war monger policies => Obama war monger. QED

The foreign policy agenda hasn't changed in a long long time, spanning multiple presidents. The big story to me is whether folks fall for it again. There really is only one candidate that can be reasonably assumed to end the war complex/militaristic aspects of our foreign policy, but there will be several who play that popular angle.
