John Lennon is a very fascinating figure to me. I think a lot of people (even many libertarians) tend to write him off as some irrelevant hippie artifact from the 1960s' new left, but the reality is nowhere near as simple as that. He was a fount of social and political insights, some misguided and some extraordinarily brilliant, who had a finely-tuned B.S. detector and the ability to cut right to the heart of any ideological debate.

I love the way he explained that revolution is only possible through peace and never through militarism (his thoughts on the subject even inspired my forum signature), and I can't help but think that if he were here right now, he would be right with us in some formidable way.
