World War 2 was already a decided contest by February 1945....no need to savagely firebomb the beautiful city of Dresden....

Let us not forget the millions of Prussians who were slaughtered by the Russians AFTER Germany surrendered.

You rarely ever hear about how the Japanese treated American POW's or Chinese civilians. In many cases, WORSE than concentration camps.

You rarely ever hear about how the Japanese treated American POW's or Chinese civilians. In many cases, WORSE than concentration camps.

I am reading The First Heroes (http://www.amazon.com/First-Heroes-Craig-Nelson/dp/0670030872), about Doolittle's raid on Tokyo in April 1942. After Doolittle's planes crash landed in China and the Chinese helped the flight crews escape to safety, the Japanese killed 250,000 Chinese in retribution. Men, women and children. Forced wives to light their husbands on fire, etc. Some of the flight crew members captured by Japan were tortured, starved to death or executed.

Of course the USA firebombed Tokyo, and nuked civilians. But after we defeated Japan, we graciously allowed them to restore their country in freedom. They would have never done that to the USA.

Fascinating how Japan believed the USA was a nation of murdering rapists, while they themselves were one of the worst cultures in history as far as abusing other nationalities. They had to be completely demolished in order to rebuild them. Just an ugly fact of life.
