Of course. CPAC officials hate us. They like our money but they hate us.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2011/02/12/two_pauls_take_over_cpac.html

"This annoys CPAC organizers, for two reasons. First: Paul's supporters have all the lungs and confidence of fourth-century Christians overwhelming the pagans. They boo loudly and interrupt the 'war criminals' and 'neocons' that the rest of the crowd spent the last decade venerating... The other annoyance for CPAC brass: The crush of Paul supporters has rendered useless the event's straw poll, once a pretty good barometer to find out who conservatives backed for president."

In 2007, just 1700 participated. By people's own actions, more are voting, and thus they think the straw poll is important.

So? Due to the Ron Paul movement we've been influencing Conservatives, Indies, Liberals on a number of issues. We've successfully infiltrated the Dems & Repubs at a local level and are using these parties to promote libertarian ideas. I'd hardly call it a failure. I'm sure Ron Paul's 2012 campaign will inspire more liberty-loving people to run for state Representative, state senate, Congress, Governor, etc.. in the future. I'd hardly call us morons, since this is the same thing Progressives of the early 20th Century did. (successfully infiltrating a popular political party) And look how that turned out. Just about every Dem politician is a progressive.

Educational campaigns for the win.

The "real vote" I assume you are talking about is the general election, right? He doesn't suck when it comes to the general election. He wasn't on the ballot. Many of us tried our best to get him the GOP nod, but that is harder than it seems and would have required more time than we had. Most of us caught on a little too late. He did better than the media would want you to notice last time around, and he doesn't seem to suck when it comes down to the real vote to make him Congressman :)

They marginalize him during the win at CPAC. Then they will try to marginalize him when he wins Iowa. They will try to marginalize him when he dominates debate after debate. They will try to marginalize him when he wins the first primary. They will be forced to support him when he wins the Republican nomination. They will be forced to accept him as their president.

Brilliant! +Rep

While on this type of "if we build it, they will come" boost, imagine the possibility of...

* Ron Paul making a Goldwater style speech at the 2012 GOP National Convention, which is deadlocked (likely, IMO)
* "Your Presidential Debates. Representing the Democratic Party, President Barack Obama, and representing the Republican Party, Representative Ron Paul."
* Comments on the news stories after those debates. "Are you kidding me? Paul reduced Obama to a quivering mess, and won the debate hands down. I wasn't sure about the man, but after what I saw, I am convinced. Ron Paul for the long haul, y'all!"
* "The results are in, and CNN can announce that Representative Ron Paul is projected to win California, and therefore has been elected the 45th President of the United States of America."
* "I, Ronald Ernest Paul, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Things are going to get very crazy, and very, very, very soon. I cannot wait. *holding on for dear life*

Ron is a longshot candidate but so was Reagan and so was Obama. I for one, will not vote for neocons anymore, so if Ron, Rand or someone of similar Liberty credentials doesn't run for president I will not vote.

I had a Romney brat ask me if I wouldn't prefer Romney to Obama, and thus shouldn't I vote for Romney to beat Obama because he is more "electable." I will NEVER vote for someone who is "electable" again (as I voted for Bush in 2000), I will never sell out my vote for another establishment candidate just because he "can beat Obama" because in the final analysis, thats who we end up with the Bushes and the Romneys. Fuck em.

Come on guys, don't obsess over Fox. Look at some of the other stories, and go to the one linked to drudgereport.com front page which has a poll he was losing last time I checked. This time Fox isn't in step with everyone else.

Fox news reported romney at 26%. Apparently fact checking isn't a real priority at times like these. At least not in journalism.

I wasn't planning on donating to LibertyPAC again today. But now I will anyway, just to make you and anyone else of your ilk who might be lurking here more angry.

Good Idea. I just donated again in honor of the troll

What I find intersting is how many people Gary Johnson actually beat, go Johnson beating Palin and Gingrich other so called Frontrunners.

Although to be fair, Mith Daniels speech was fairly decent and had some amusing jokes

Booyah! Fuck Mittens and his lousy supporters. Fuck the CPAC brass!
Seriously. I had some of them sitting behind me and they just went on and on about how "Paul sucks" and "Ron Paul: yay marijuana!" as if we're all pot heads. I've never done drugs, so it's ridiculous. All I want is freedom to live how I want without being bothered by government or anyone else. Apparently that's too much to ask.

It isn't "fruitless" and the poll wasn't "meaningless". You want to know what it means? It means we aren't going away, bitches. They hoped we would just disappear. No doubt, Dr. Paul feared we would as well. But we didn't, we stayed, we are learning from our losses and we intend to win.

The other candidates tried to win, there were almost 30% more votes in the poll this year and we won by similar margins.

Saying that Romney winning second place is what's important is like saying, "What matters is John McCain made a strong second place showing to Obama in 2008."

He's lost two years in a row, even with his bought-and-paid-for, bussed-in supporters.

indeed. and what kind of idiots are these people, how is it there concern what an individual puts in THEIR OWN BODY anyways????

my mind just can't comprehend what they are thinking. our minds just don't work like theirs do. they lack the "common sense" area of the brain apparently.

2012 is up in the air, but we have already won the future.

especially with our dogged determination.

they thought we would leave after Paul lost the nomination. They don't realize this movement is bigger than the 2008 campaign. 2012 is the next step. we will win the presidency this time around - and if we don't , the liberty movement marches on with even MORE steam.

Donald Trump is going to get a real good lesson when he sees Ron Paul capture the presidency in 2012. He underestimates the power of the internet. the power of the youth. the power of common sense. the power of the common man. we have had enough of Trump and his fat-cat rich friends, never mind the career politicians like Mitt Romney.

I can't wait for the debates. If you thought Ron Paul dominated last time around, this time, I think he is ready to fire on all cylinders; this is the fight of his life, the fight for his legacy, the fight for America : Freedom, or Fascism.

Step 2 is every Ron Paul supporter in the country goes to an Iowa DMV and gets a drivers license, then shows up to Ames and wins one for the Paulmeister. Preferably by a landslide.

I would do that without hesitation, im pretty sure you would need to have proof of a physical address in iowa though, as in mail to an address with your name on it. Sounds like fun though

I had Coast to Coast on at work and every hour they have Fox News briefs. The first time they said that Ron Paul had won the CPAC Straw Poll, gave the % then added that it was mostly young people that voted. The next hour, same, announced that he had won BUT added that their own Fox News Poll show that Romney and Huckabee came in first and second with Romney having the best chance to beat Obama. I'm screaming at the radio Paul wasn't iincluded in your stupid fucking poll. Didn't add that did they. And that folks was the spin every hour thereafer.

Romney actually had a lot of young people, too.

I don't suppose it dawned on them that young folks are more likely to have time off, minimal expenses, and fewer domestic obligations, hence why they are more easily able to make the drive/flight to DC for a few days?
