And clap politely for ALL candidates NO MATTER WHO WINS!!!!!

Leave a good impression, no matter the result of the poll. We can be better people than they were. We are there to win hearts and minds. And if RP doesn't win, our reaction WILL be noted. And if he does win, make sure to applaud the other candidates politely too. You are ambassadors, folks.

They say you have to be in VERY EARLY to get a seat in the main room. That is why we had no one in before, there was a C4L event not too long before the announcement and our folks ended up in overflow rooms.

It will be if it is advantageous to them. Count on them to say how Ron usually wins straw polls so is expected to win, and how it doesn't mean anything. They won't be caught like last time.

When I voted I didn't circle the "Student" slot. They marginalized us last year because of the large amount of students.

And be polite to other candidates when they are announced! We don't want to turn off their supporters and bystanders who are unaffiliated! In fact, if some andrenilin junkie starts booing, I'd still clap politely and make it clear those people stand on their own. I honestly think some people may be there just to stir stuff up, and they may not all be our own people. I suspect Rumsfield / Cheney may have been after Rand specifically to provoke things. They sure seemed prepared for it and became the sympathetic victims quickly enough.

I don't understand why it wasn't the ultimate priority, other than voting for Ron at the straw poll, to ensure a packed audience for when the results were announced. Seems like after last year, all the RP folks would have been lined up to enter the main ballroom and secure the center seats from the minute it opened today.

Yeah, hard for me to blame you since you actually went and I didn't. I'm just hoping enough people leave after the Coulter speech to allow our people to enter. I am wondering if the diehard neo-cons will simply leave, because they all seem to have gotten wind of the results. Last year, they were there to cheer Romney until Paul won. This year, they may just no-show to try and give the poll as little legitimacy as possible.

In the last hour I've heard the 9/11 card played, as well as someone saying that our policies in Afghanistan have empowered the women in the region (the implication being, if you disagree with our foreign policy, you must hate those women!). Now Coulter is going on and on about providing democracy to the Middle East - another emotional appeal.

CPAC was not just about going and voting and then partying your god damn asses off. We needed everyone tho be IN THE FUCKING ROOM today.

Looks like we will get a great media response just like last year "Ron Paul booed as he wins CPAC"

We have way to many immature "kids" in this Revolution that need to get a grip on the fact that somethings are important.

everyone that is going crazy is being a bit ridiclious. There are neocons that get there at 9 and never move, sitting there listing to every speaker. Its true, they dont pick and choose like us. Also, its very difficult to "fill the room" because a.) there is reserved diamound seating which is all old wealthy conservatives, and b.) assuming we get 30% of those who voted, which is not everyone who will be there, we are still in the minority against all the neocons combined. So chill out and lets just see what will happen. Hopefully Johnsons people will applaud for us too.

KramerDSP
02-12-2011, 03:15 PM
We can't take this straw poll too seriously, win or lose. Straw Polls have been rendered mute. I'm still going to enjoy this if we win, but we can't dwell on the boos. I do wish there was a more concerted effort by the Paul supporters with packing the main room for the victory. 10% of RP supporters screaming cheers at the top of their lungs just may be enough to guarantee a mixed reaction at the worst.

ron paul wins cPAC The results of the CPAC straw poll of presidential candidates are in, and the winner is Ron Paul, with 30% of the vote. Mitt Romney was the runner-up with 23%, and all other candidates tied with about 6% each.

84% of the voters identified themselves as fiscal conservatives, placing their highest priority on economic growth and restraining the growth of government.

Definitely more cheering than last year, including some chants of "Ron Paul! Ron Paul!". Still some sore losers booing.

Gawd, I've never seen so many uptight muthafuckers before.

And in a supposedly "freedom loving" and "libertarian" forum.

Sheesh, and I'm an old fart...

Folks, everything is good no matter what happens and the people on the ground are doing just fine.

Relax, remove the sticks from thine asses, keep your fingers crossed for a RP win and remember that a week from now, 99.9 percent of the population won't know WTF a CPAC is.

According to Twitter 'YAF chose this moment to announce they have asked Ron Paul to step down' from some advisory role I wonder if he even knew he had. No idea if it's true, but if so, wow, what sour grapes and minimal impact. It's a competitor to YAL, in a sense.

And that's Sorba's organization, the guy who called out CPAC for inviting GOProud while he was on stage last time.

YAL are the cool kids.

The YAFs (Young Americans for Freedom) are Ghouliani-loving fascist youths. I saw them at CPAC last year. They scared the shit out of me!

"Young American's for Freedom"?? laughable.

"Young American's for Fascism" would be apt.
