I don't know anything about the guy, but I thought it odd that he chose today to step down. Who's Al Cardenas?

David Keene stepped down as Chairman of the American Conservative Union on Wednesday after holding the post since 1984. News of Keene's departure comes on the eve of the 2011 Conservative Political Action Conference, which the group holds each year.

Businessman and attorney Al Cardenas will was elected to succeed Keene, according to a statement issued by the conservative group.

Yeah, I read that some neocon was coming in and would be better able to 'control' things.

I didn't know it would be today. Wow. The day before CPAC!!

Hope the ballot controls are already in place....

Yeah, I'm a little worried about this sudden move. Smells fishy.

Actually, it sounds like it was predetermined and just took effect today. Maybe the group has their annual meeting just prior to CPAC? I'm not quite ready to think this was a sudden event.
