IHS Summer Seminars on Liberty & Careers

The Institute for Humane Studies offers Summer Seminars (http://www.email.theihs.org/l.jsp?d=2705.346433.357.6zL4wgcMpu-qlPbeghdh7gg..A) for students interested in individual liberty and economic freedom. The seminars, now in their 31st year, bring together undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates for an informative and fun week of discussions and lectures. Please tell young people you know about this opportunity.

We offer 12 Summer Seminars (http://www.email.theihs.org/l.jsp?d=2705.346434.357.6zL4wgcMpu-qlPbeghdh7gg..A), some career-oriented as well as ones covering theory and topical issues. The career seminars (http://www.email.theihs.org/l.jsp?d=2705.346435.357.6zL4wgcMpu-qlPbeghdh7gg..A) on public policy, journalism, and academia provide practical tips from working professionals and explain critical analysis and economic tools that students can use to understand political processes and social issues.

Thetopical seminars (http://www.email.theihs.org/l.jsp?d=2705.346436.357.6zL4wgcMpu-qlPbeghdh7gg..A) delve into the ideas of great thinkers such as Adam Smith and Friedrich Hayek, and explore economic theories such as spontaneous order as well as political concepts including the self-perpetuating nature of government intervention.

History. Philosophy. Law. Economics. Topics in all of these areas are covered by the interdisciplinary seminar faculty. This summer's speakers include philosopher David Schmidtz, public-interest lawyer Paul Sherman, and Megan McArdle of The Atlantic.

We welcome applications from undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates, and all participants receive a full scholarship covering housing, meals, and materials. The seminars take place on college campuses throughout the United States.

Please share this opportunity with students and recent graduates who may be interested.
